Call from Niall

I stared at my ringing phone for a few more seconds thinking should I really answer but finally I pressed green button and sighed deeply.

"Emma I'm so sorry", was the first thing I heard. "I know I did something horrible and you have every right to be mad at me but please just listen what I have to say".

"I already said fine, so talk", I answer. I can feel the cold tone in my voice and it feels like I'm freezing everything around me into huge ice cubes.

I know I'm being overdramatic but I just feel like I was being fooled around and that Niall with all the people in the world are laughing at me.

"I know I should have called you immediately when I knew I couldn't come", Niall said. "You remember my ex-girlfriend Amanda, right?".

"Yes", I continued answering. I don't want to be mad at him anymore. He sounds so worried and I don't even know him that well but I can tell that.

"She came to my door with my mother just when I was going to come and pick you up", Niall started explaining. "I thought everything was okay but then Amanda told me that she had talked with my mother how I dumped her without any reasons and all kinds of things I definitely didn't say or do".

"And?" now I'm really feeling like an idiot. I was mad without any reasons. Just because he didn't text me. We were just starting to become closer friends so I've made a huge mistake by not talking to him earlier.

"I told my mom the truth about how Amanda was the one cheating on me and all the other reasons why I needed to get away from her", Niall said.

"What did she say after that?".

"She was trying to convince me to take Amanda back", I heard him saying amd he sighed.

"So what happened?" I asked.

"I told her I can't take that kind of person back to my life. Especially because of someone far better person than she is in my life right now", Niall said and I can guarantee that he began to smile. I just know from person's voice when they show facial expressions without even seeing them.

"And who is that?" I asked. I'm kind of sure who it is but you can never know.

"You, of course. You are such a amazing and beautiful person that I don't mind keeping you in my life more than being forced to keep Amanda", Niall said and I felt my heart skip a beat and reddish color spreading down my cheeks, even though I'm home alone.

"I'm so sorry", I said.

"For what? You did nothing wrong", Niall answered.

"For being such an idiot and stubborn, I should have listened to you in the first place. I feel really bad. Can you please forgive me?" I explained my view. I feel really bad.

"Of course Emma don't worry, everything's fine", I heard Niall's voice calming me down. Wow, didn't expect that. "I'm the one that should be apologizing".

"Don't, everything is fine, just like you said", I said and I started smiling.

"Maybe I could make it up to you and take you out now?" Niall asked. Damn it, I can't.

"I have work to do, I'm sorry", I told.

"It's fine, don't worry", Niall said. "I have to go now, I'll talk to you very soon".

After that the call ended I put down my phone and stood up from the couch that I've been sitting on during the phone conversation.

I have to finish some chapters from the book I'm working on at the moment. The book is called Lost memories and in just few months it's going to be published and I get to relax again.

Don't get it wrong, I love my job, writing is my passion but it's a full-time job and sometimes very exhausting.

I've just began to write when I heard a knock on my door and I ran there to open it. Behind the door stood very familiar blond guy with food basket in his hands, smiling at me.
