About Last Night

Chapter One

Walking into school this morning was different, things just didn't feel right at all, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen today. As soon as I walked into class I see my best friend Katie she looked the same as always, bright eyed and ready to learn.

"KATIE! Oh my god I missed you so much!"

"Ava, it's only been two days" she says laughing hysterically

"Two days is a long time to go without seeing your best friend! You know you missed me too bitch." I say with a small smirk plastered on my face

"Mmhm sure I did Ava"  she says trying not to laugh

"Hey, by the way, have you seen Daniel? I haven't talked to him all weekend."

Daniel is my other best friend, we met when I was 7 and we've pretty much been best friends ever since. He's the kind of friend you go to when you're having troubles with guys because he knows just what to say and how to help.

"Well.. I.."

Before Katie had time to finish what she was saying she cut off by the bell.

"Ok class take your seats, we have a lot to talk about today.

"Oh great, here we go" I say to Katie while I roll my eyes.

"Today we will be revising each other's essays from last week, and later on our school counselor Mr Watson  will be joining the class to talk about something that happened this weekend, so any questions?"

Just as Mr. Mills was about to continue talking the door opens causing everyone to turn and look

"Fuckboy alert" Katie whispers into my ear causing me to giggle

"Grayson, please take a seat we're just getting started" says Mr. Mills clearly annoyed.

Grayson and his twin brother Ethan were known as the schools fuckboy's they had new girl every week, but I have to admit they are incredibly attractive.

Grayson was still standing by the door just staring at me and if that's not weird enough he made it weirder by mouthing the words "I'm so sorry"

"MR.DOLAN!" Mr.Mills yells causing Grayson to break eye contact with me. "Please take your seat." Grayson walks over and sits down in his seat leaving me and Katie really confused.

"What was that all about" Katie whispers into my ear trying not to interrupt the class.

"I have no idea" I say while looking over at Grayson only to notice he was already looking at me, he slowly puts his head down trying to act like he was working on his work.

"Why does he keep looking at you like he killed your puppy? Is there something you're not telling me Ava?" Katie looks at me with a serious look on her face.

"No.. I'm just as confused as you are."

"OH MY GOD AVA ARE YOU HOOKING UP WITH GRAYSON DOLAN!" She looked at me like she was about to rip out my throat.

"No! Oh my god no I swear" before I could even finish my sentence Mr. Watson walked in cutting me off.

"Hello everyone, so today I came to talk to you guys about something that happened this weekend ,and before I get started I want you guy to know that it's ok to feel sad and it's ok to cry, and after this if any of you need someone to talk to feel free to come down to my office I'll be free all week."

I look over at Grayson and see that he's looking at me again, he looked so sad, it was obvious something was really bugging him. It was then that I got a really uneasy feeling in my stomach.

"So this weekend, as many of you may know we lost one of our own."

The whole class remained quiet, I swear it was so quiet you could hear a pencil drop from the classroom right next to us.

"Daniel Martinez has passed away after a horrible car accident this weekend." My heart dropped to my stomach and I felt instantly sick, before he could continue I broke down into tears and ran out of the classroom.

"Ava wait!" I turn around to see Grayson chasing me out of the classroom.

"Please... l-leave me a-alone" I sob.

"No I won't leave you alone you can talk to me Ava, I know what you're going through and I know how you're feeling right now." He had a soft and sincere look on his face.

"Leave me alone! I don't need the biggest fuckboy in school to cheer me up!" I say while putting my head in my hands. There was awkward silence and nothing but my sobs for at least 2 minutes.

"I'm sorry Ava I really am. If you change your mind and you need someone to talk to here's my number." He grabs my hand and puts a crumbled up piece of paper in it and then he walks back to class.

A couple minutes later Katie walks out and she sits down next to me.

"Ava... I'm so so sorry." she sobs and she wraps her arms around me.

I feel like my whole world had just crashed and burned. I was falling apart.
