- Harbour Wave -
Rise, I said rise, oh Lord of the Night,
The thirst of your people is high,
Walk the lands that are far from bright,
Hear the innocents scream and cry.
[Archer’s POV]
I awoke to find myself in a dark area. I wasn’t sure where I was. Even with my ability to see in the dark, there was nothing I could make out. I wasn’t in a room nor was I out in the open.
All of a sudden, I felt myself teleporting somewhere else. I was now in a long, dark corridor. I stared at both ends of the corridor. Unfortunately, there was nothing that I could see on either ends. I decided to head in a random direction. As I walked, I began to hear whispers. I couldn’t make out what the whispers were saying though.
Suddenly, a dark cloud appeared several metres in front of me. It levitated of the ground. Before it could react, it started speeding towards me. In the middle of the cloud was the face of a man with no eyes and his mouth open. I felt fear rush through my body and I wasted no time in running in the opposite direction.
I tried my very best to run away but it felt like I was running in slow motion. Behind me, the dark mass was approaching me at normal speed. I looked ahead and spotted a small light at the end. I used all my strength to reach it and escape the dark mass.
Just when it seemed as though it would get me, I stumbled through an opening and dropped from a very high place. I was too scared to scream and all I could do was feel myself falling. I still couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, I landed in a pit. I opened my eyes and saw daylight. I tried climbing out of the pit but just then, decaying hands emerged from the sides of the pit and started holding me down. One of the hands closed my mouth to stop me from screaming for help.
I heard whispers. “You can never escape…” the voices said that over and over and over again. Someone started filling the pit with dirt. I was being buried alive! The hands pinned me down until I was lying down. All I could do was watch as more dirt covered me and the last rays of sunlight disappeared from my eyes.
I awoke covered in sweat. My eyes were greeted by bright daylight as I opened them. I was lying in the back seat of Miles’ car. I looked up and saw Sierra looking out the window. I realised I had my head in her lap so I decided to just sit up. Looking out of the car window, I saw cars around us. I assumed we were stuck in a traffic jam. In the distance, I could see the seaside.
“Oh hey, you’re awake. Are you alright?” Sierra asked.
“Yeah, I’m alright.” I looked down at my wounds from the gunshots. Surprisingly, I was healing but I was still weak. My heart was racing from the nightmare I had.
“Your wounds are healing but I still feel that you need some sort of medical attention. Since you don’t want to go to a hospital, I figured the next best thing to do was to get you checked up by my aunt Lainey.”
“She lives by the beach?”
“No, she came to watch her son, Flynn, compete in a surfing competition. My cousin feels that he can bring home the trophy this year. If only the competition wasn’t so tough…”
“Uh-huh. So, do you have any idea where your relatives are staying?”
“Nope, not a clue.” Miles said shaking his head.
“Then, how are you going to find them?” Sierra asked.
“I’m going to call them, duh,” Miles said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “We just need to get out of this damned traffic jam first!” Miles shouted as he honked the cars in front.
