I sat across from C/N in the library, as she was distracted from our project and currently trying to balance a pencil on her nose. With anyone else, I would have already scolded them sternly, being that the project for English was not yet done and still was due tomorrow. However, whenever I looked into her eyes, shining with youthful energy, it was hard to open my mouth to reprimand C/N.
The pencil drops off her nose again, and I giggle slightly as it falls to the wood table, the eraser landing first and bouncing off her paper and then rolling a bit before settling against a book.
"I swear I almost had it for thirty seconds." C/N's smile gives off a bright, radiant aura, and gosh, it's so difficult not to peck her on her slightly flushed cheek because of her adorable smile.
"I'm sure you'll be able to someday, but not this time. We should work on the essay now."
"Oh, right." She looks a bit embarrassed that she wasted time, but to me, it was taken in probably the best form; her. She's been trying to balance the pencil so long that our laptop monitors have both turned black, and as she taps the mousepad of the Macbook she owns that is covered from keyboard to webcam in various sorts of stickers, she sighs seeing the time. "Crap, we only have five minutes left until the library closes. I'm so sor-"
"It's fine, don't worry." I say as she frets. "How about we pack up and go someplace else?"
"Oh, we can go to my place." C/N says.
"Thanks." I smile, and she grins back, possibly righter than the sun. The thought of her and I going to her home was painstakingly exciting and made my stomach flutter with joy while my heart raced. "It might take a while for us to finish, though. Is it okay if I eat dinner at your place?"
"It's no problem. We can order pizza." C/N's finger brushes against mine as we both reach to pick up the pencil, and blushing furiously, I look away, hoping it isn't too noticeable and let her take the pencil.
After packing up and exiting the library, we both begin to walk toward the place where she lives. Since the sidewalk is so thin, our hands brush against each other constantly, most of the time by accident, while we walk in sync next to one another.
When we get to her place, she fishes her key out of her backpack and unlocks the door. When we step in, I am greeted by the familar scent of her sweatshirt which she had lent me once after a late night of studying and I forgetting a jacket, by accident, despite the predictable change of the temperature of the autumn air. I had given it back, of course, but only because the warmth her action gave to my heart was enough to heat me.
"Welcome to mi casa." She takes her jacket off and throws it onto a couch. "Just throw anything on there. I'll put it in the closet later. You have the WiFi password still, right?"
"Yes."
"Okay, great. You can get started and I'll order us a pizza."
After ordering pizza, we get to business on the essay and manage to finish early, completing proofreading it for the third time and sending the document to the teacher exactly a minute before the pizza comes. After offering to split the pizza bill but C/N insisting on paying the full price herself, we both lounge and relax on the sofa, nibbling on the pizza.
"How much do you love pizza?"
"A shit ton."
"Humanity's greatest gift to the universe."
"I love it almost as much as I love you."
As those words slipped out, it took a second for the full meaning of the sentence I had spoken to sink in, and almost immediately I became flustered as blood rushed up to my cheeks.
"I mean... I.... um...." I stutter, at a loss for how to respond to my slip-up.
"Y/N, I know you have a crush on me." C/N smiles, gazing almost lovingly into my eyes. "Everyone knows it, so can you admit it?"
She leans in closer, setting down her slice of pizza.
"Well..." I can only imagine how ridiculous I must look blushing. "I do have a crush on you. Oh my gosh, I said it. I-"
She cuts off my words by wiping a spot of tomato sauce off of my chin with her finger, and then pressing her lips to mine. It takes me a while to realize what we're doing even though my eyelids shut and I do the same back instantly as I've always wanted; we're kissing. Her lips are slightly chapped from the cold, and a have a slight taste of pizza, but that all makes what is her, her, and I wouldn't want it any other way. As we slowly move our lips with each other's, it finally dawns on me right as we pull away from each other and we are both smiling madly, our breathing rapid, and the touch of her soft fingers caressing my cheek as we lean our noses against each other in bliss.
C/N likes me too.
I also like her more than I like pizza now.
