August 10:         A new beginning.

                             A fresh start.

                             Done with schooling.

Moving on to life's second part.

My first day of college was pretty much like I expected it to be. New city. New college. New faces. Everyone was excited being away from home for the first time. The idea that they weren't confined by parental authority. The room was bustling with activity. Students introducing themselves and shaking hands with a broad grin. But secretly analysing, filtering and selecting who they could hang out with for the next couple of years. I wanted to go in and join in this charade. But I am what you would call an 'introvert' a euphemistic term which I felt was used to describe shy people. Plus I wouldn't fit into any of these groups. I wasn't athletic or the sporty type. Kinda overweight and clumsy! That was me! I wasn't the nerdy type to join the brainiacs club. I wasn't particularly talented in any field. My only hobby was writing this diary. But apart from that I was just an average guy. As average as they can get! So there I stood glancing across the room. And then I saw the little mite- Arjun, As I found out his name later. A small thin guy. With a round face, wearing a pair of shell framed glasses. He was standing awkwardly in the corner of the room. Like a fish out of water. So I go over to him and start talking. Man! That kid is worse than me. He barely talks!! Our first day is just this introduction shenanigans and orientation. After lunch we move back to the hostel. I find Arjuns room is in the same floor as mine. But at the other end of the long corridor. On the whole it was a good day. Hope the rest of the college is a breeze too.

August 11: The routine begins. Can't believe they started taking classes this early. It's just the second day! I was hoping this orientation thing would go on for a couple of more days. But no!! They had to jump into the subject right from the second day!! And the classes are so damn boring. I can't keep my eyes open. And the worst part. These teachers ask questions in the end! And give impositions if we don't answer! This is brutality!!! At Least I have company. Arjun didn't answer too. So I spent the entire evening in his room. Writing the stupid imposition.

August 16: Can't believe a week has passed since I wrote the last entry! But nothing new is happening. It's the same old routine. Wake up. Classes. Lunch classes. Come to hostel. Complete the assignments. Or write impositions. And go to bed. BORRRIIINNGGGG!!! But today being a Sunday we had a little breathing time. The other guys went to the mall in the city to watch a movie. I wanted to go too. But those guys weren't really my type. If you know what I mean. So I just decided to hang out with Arjun in the hostel.

August 17: The most interesting day so far. It started as just another day. Getting to college. Taking my seat in the last row next Arjun. Preparing myself to face a new battle- With my sleep. The old professor walks in and behind her walks in the prettiest girl I have ever seen. Wow! I mean wow! I mean the girls in my class are quite pretty. But she was an angel Incarnate. Her silky hair with loose strands in front that she tucked behind her ears. Her smooth skin. And that angelic face. I didn't believe in love at first sight till that moment. And what's more there was no place in front so she had to sit in the last row on the bench next to mine. Watching her sit in that bench next to mine made me get into my fight flight fright mode. I wasn't sleepy but neither could I concentrate on the class. I sat there fighting against my urge to look at her. Not daring to even  turn to her side lest she caught me looking at her.

August 18: I rushed to class this morning. Hoping to get that seat again. And hoping she would sit in the bench next to mine. But she was already settld up in front. Her name was Rhea. Apparently she was not just a beauty. But a beauty with brains! She was from a wealthy family from another part of the country. And she was staying in an independent house by herself next to our college campus. Heard she was an excellent basketball player too which explains her fine athletic body. All through the day I sat thinking about her. In return all I got was a 50 times imposition for not being in attentive in class!
