Chapter 5

June 3, 2016 2:30 a.m. 

The hospital was very quiet and very bright. My throat was killing me and bruises started to form that wrapped around from my left ear to my right. I had two cops standing outside my door. People kept looking in from the windows, probably hoping to see someone famous. My dad came in the room and gave me his famous bear hug. I didn't want him to let go, I didn't want him to ever let go. I've always felt so safe in his and my Uncle Mac's arms. He started to let go but I just hugged him tighter. He sat down in the chair behind him and just held me until my mom and the doctor walked in. I hugged my mom so tightly I almost suffocated her. The doctor held up x-rays of my neck. Luckily, nothing was fractured but my vocal chords, tracheae, and esophagus where slightly damaged from the amount of force he was using. It would heal in 2-3 weeks. The doctor said it would be hard to talk and swallow for the next week but after that it will get easier after it starts to heal. A loud beeping could be heard. The doctor took he X-rays and apologized for needing to leave. I really didn't care, another patient needed his help. They were top priority at this very moment.
"How do you feel sweetheart?" My dad asked me.
"Like I've been strangled." I said sarcastically.
"You look like it too." My dad joked.
"Thanks for the self esteem boost pops." I chuckled. So did my parents.
"Dad, after Uncle Mac shot my strangler, I heard glass shatter."
"Casey jumped through the sliding glass door." He answered.
"Let me guess, the fall didn't kill him."
"Unfortunately."
Great. My stalker is still at large. What was this guy's deal anyway? Why couldn't he be like any other pissed off person and just send stupid threats in the mail or something? The next time I see him, I'm gonna beat his ass for doing this to me and my family.
