Hey everyone! This is the first part of the first chapter. It's just introducing two of the main characters. The blank lines are in the place of town names. I don't want to use actual names, i like to be creative. i'll fill them in later

"Hey Denny! Have you seen the paper this morning?"

"Come on James! You know I hate that nickname."

"Okay, fine. Ehehehehem! Dennuix! Have you seen the paper yet?"

Dennuix. (Den-we). An odd name I admit, but it's mine and I love it. It sounds like it should be a last name, doesn't it? I get that a lot. My actual last name is Somnia. Yes, my parents were weird.

Anyway, I am a twenty-eight year old woman. I like to think I have a good life going. I live out to the east of New York City on Long Island. It's a nice place to live, but God it's expensive. I moved here from a suburb of Trenton, New Jersey. It was a great place there, but I needed a change of scenery. So when I turned twenty-three I moved out. For about three and a half years, I rented an apartment in ______. It was a quaint little place and it wasn't too expensive. I had a job that helped pay for it. I had just about worked wherever and whenever I could. I love to work! I feel it's like a stress reliever, even when the work is stressful. It keeps your mind off of all of the worse things in the world.

"No, James, I just came down, if you hadn't noticed. What's up?"

"Well here, listen to this. It happened two days ago. I quote, "Police have recently found a woman who had been bludgeoned to death in an office of the Law Firm of Grue and Noloide in ________. She seemed to have been hit multiple times in the head, and an uncountable amount of times everywhere else. The police have only a few susp-"

"Just give it to me!" I yelled at him while I ripped the paper out of his hand.

Probably one of the problems with me is that I'm way too curious for my own good. If I were Pandora, I wouldn't have opened the box for a whopping 30 seconds! I can't leave anything untouched, or else I will worry about it until I go back to it. Oh well, I sat down at the little kitchen table and started reading out loud.

"The police have only a few suspects at the moment, but are working hard to track them down and bring them to justice! The body was so decrepit that the forensic experts had to compare dental records to identify it. It seems that the body was a Delilah Ribore. Her family was not available to make any comment, unfortunately." I stopped there. "This never happens out here! Who could've done that?"

"Hey, I don't know anymore than you do, Dennuix." That was James again.

"Well I hope they find whoever did it. I'd hate to have someone going around like that in public." I instinctively looked over my shoulder, just incase.

James just laughed and said, "I'm sure they will. Give them time. Remember, it only happened yesterday. It's not like he's here is his?"

"Yeah, I know." James Tolli (Tah-li) could really be a little too incompetant and comfortable at times. "Anyway James, I have to get to work, I'll see you later." And with that, I started walking the two blocks to work.

I've been living with James for one and a half years. He's twenty-seven. He's only a year younger than me. We share the rent of a nice apartment in ______. It's a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. We share a kitchen and living room. It's a perfect place for both of ours jobs.

James could be seen as good-looking, I guess. He's about five foot eleven to six foot. He probably weighs in around 170-180 lbs. James has a short crop of dark brown hair. I believe that if he grew it out, it might be either have a tiny bit of wave, or it will be dead straight. His eyes are a nice brownish-hazel, which complements his hair. When he smiles, he must have the biggest mouth and the best teeth in the world. His nose kind of fits in to all of the other parts. I wouldn't know how to describe it, but it looks fine.

You may be wondering if we are a "thing/couple/item," however you want to say it. We are definitely not! I am not one for relationships. They're nice, but I can do without them for now. I think that when the time comes, I'll know who is for me. It's a little fairytale-ish, I know. But a girl can dream, can't she?

I arrived at The Blue Diner a little too early for my shift. I've been working here for four months now, and I still have no idea why it's called what it is. Nothing here is blue. Both in physical and mental status.

I walked up to the bar and started talking to one of my co-workers, Jamie. She's a nice little girl, but she's not the brightest. You can't do much more other than make small talk with her.

"Hey, Dennuix! Why are you here so early?"

"Georgia, It's only ten minutes until my shift."

"Oh, well would you look at the time! You're right!"

Georgia is my boss, and she is amazing! She must be around 55-60, but I'm too polite to ask. She has this great instinct and she can tell when someone needs something. I had stopped in here right after I had lost my old job. I only cursed out one customer, but I guess they don't like that. Georgia was my waitress, and as soon as she came with my three scoop ice cream and hot chocolate, she offered me a job as a busboy (busgirl).

Now I'm a waitress! All in the span of about two months, I got promoted!

"Dennuix! Get table six, will you?" Georgia called from across the room.

"Sure Georgia! I'm on it!"

I grabbed an apron, tied it on, started going straight for table six, and stopped dead in my tracks.

DANG! He was huge! He must've been 350-400 pounds of pure fat. I was surprised that he could sit without breaking the chair! Oh, it was going to be a long day...

I finished up work, and started heading back home around 4:00. It was only two blocks back, so I don't normally have time to talk to anyone I may see on the way home. I was tapped on the shoulder, and I spun around while a tiny yip escaped me.

Oh. It was fatso. I couldn't imagine what he wanted.

"Your name is Denny, correct?"

"Actually it isn't, it's Dennuix. It sounds like there's a "w" in it."

"Oh, okay." And with that he walked away.

Well, that was queer. I continued on home and tried not to worry about fatso. I tried telling myself that maybe he just liked my service or something. I wasn't believing myself at all. I was really starting to worry! Then I remembered that when he talked his voice had just a hint of retardation on it. Yeah, that was definitely what it was. There's no doubt, because why would anyone want me?

I got home and James wasn't there. I was secretly a little happy. I didn't really want to deal with him right now. I realized that I was extremely tired. I had been up extremely late the past couple of days. I was either going to crash on the floor, or actually get into bed....I opted for the second one.
