Though this is titled 'A (Not S0) Epic Telling of What the Frick Happened Last Night', it technically started at around 2:00 am so it was more this morning and is 100% true. Before I get into exactly what happened, I'd like to explain as best as I can what sleep paralysis is.
Sleep Paralysis is "an inescapable waking nightmare" to put it simply. You wake up (rather you think you're awake) and most of your senses are working properly but you can't move, and you can't speak. Now, that may not sound scary, but there are two "types" of sleep paralysis: a weird levitating sensation or a nightmare. The nightmares usually consist of shadowy figures doing something terrifying, ghosts by the ceiling, or a demon on your chest, and one of two other common things.
"It's not quite as simple as simply being afraid, though. It's a complex confluence of physiological and psychological occurrences that force you to experience your deepest nightmares with eyes wide open." During a certain stage in your sleep, your body paralyzes itself to prevent you from acting out on your dreams like running to escape something or even jumping out a window. Sleep paralysis is often what happens to your body before these effects wear off when you wake up. For some people, however, it happens when they fall asleep.
Now that you know that, you can probably guess what happened to me last night! I had another sleep paralysis episode. The first time it happened, it wasn't so bad and I didn't actually know it was sleep paralysis, but this one was long, terrifying, and inescapable. My sleep paralysis episodes always seem to consist of the shadowy figures part. I wrote down exactly what happened last night, but it was the fluffing middle of the night, so I'm going to polish it up and make it at least somewhat presentable and understandable. Buckle in because now I'm going to send you on an epic journey of what the frickles my head was doing last night and beyond that.
12/27/16- Around 2:00 am was when I went to bed and started to fall asleep. Then I "woke up". I laid there for several moments, unable to move at all. My room was pitch black minus a little bit of light coming from a door that was open. Suddenly, two men walked by and I did my best to close my eyes and act like I was sleeping. But I know they had two clipboards and were discussing me like I was a test subject or experiment.
A picture in my mind told my body what I wanted to do in fitful spasms, but all I felt was a strong, almost forceful tingle holding me in place. These men left and came back a few times and eventually I think the paralysis was beginning to wear off (this whole thing lasted for about 15-25 minutes and at this point, it was nearing my wake up) because I reached over to my nightstand and grabbed my phone. For some reason, it wouldn't work and even in the pitch black, the screen couldn't penetrate the darkness so I blindly flipped on the flashlight feature after a struggle, but it was very dim. I tried calling for my mom out of fear, but I couldn't speak.
I was even more terrified as I shone my light on a dead body in my desk chair before waking up. (There was also a large lump that my brain keep trying to tell me was a dragon but this was honestly already so bizarre that I'm trying to convince myself it was a blanket or something)
Now, that may not have sounded completely scary in this (not so) epic telling of it, but it was absolutely terrifying to me. One thing I absolutely fear is people watching me in my sleep and bam! Here these weirdo guys were watching me with clipboards and taking notes or some crap. All I know is, I started crying and actually called for my mom this time (because praise the Lord I was finally awake), but she didn't hear me so I went on the internet and kept myself awake because I was too scared to go back to sleep.
Anyways, my night wasn't even over yet. It was probably around 4:00 when I went down for food and water and came back up and heard this scratching sound coming from somewhere downstairs- I assumed by the porch. Now I had already been through hell and back, so I didn't give a crap if some terrifying demon or some crap was scraping at my porch because we were minding our own businesses and if it decided to come bother me I would chuck that carton of Gold Fish so hard at it, it would be running back to hell.
Of course, then I heard the footsteps in the attic. That's right. Footsteps. Back and forth, all around, but again ahaha I decided to completely ignore this even though it freaked me out. I eventually got a text back from a friend that I'd texted pretty soon after waking up and I went to bed at the time my school alarm goes off: 5:45 am and ignored all the weird sounds because I was so tired.
So to recap...
I had a sleep paralysis nightmare that left me in tears and calling for my mom, I stayed up to hear scratching and freaky footsteps, and was so exhausted and fed up that I blasted my emo playlist over it and went to bed.
What the heckle is wrong with my brain?
Anyways that was last night. I woke up at different times after going to bed the second time at 5:35 but kept falling asleep again and didn't actually get up until around 1:00 pm. I hope maybe this provided you with some kind of entertainment or new knowledge? I don't know, I figured I'd share because it was so freaking weird and I wrote it all down so why not?
