One day, I was getting back home from work. On my way back, I came across the Juhu beach and saw a broken car. I got off my car to see if everything was ok, and suddenly heard someone crying. I followed the sound and it was a girl sobbing. She seemed to be in her twenties.
I asked her if she was ok.
"An idiot truck driver collided on the starboard side of my car", she said... (sobbing).
"Oh... May I help you?"
"Hmm.." she murmured.
I dropped her home in my car. Her place was a bit far, so we talked a bit. Despite of me being a stranger, her way of talking was very frank. This was probably because, she thought she could rely on me, after all, I was giving her a lift.
The time we reached. She jumped out of the car and said, " THANK YOU SO MUCH, Mr. Stranger" and ran away inside.
I smiled and drove back home. On reaching, I got out of the car but while locking, I noticed something on the pillion seat. It was a purse. I inspected it. It had all her necessary belongings like license, debit card, lipstick, mirror and some cash.
I saw her name on the license. It was Natasha.... Natasha Oberoi. Her phone number was also available. So, I took her purse home and called her up. She didn't pick the call for some hours. At last, she picked up the call in the night.
"Hey Natasha... I am Adi."
"Do I know you?"
"Hey.. The one who dropped you home today."
"Oh? But where do you get my number from and who told you my name?"
"It's clearly written in your license. I am so sorry to open it without permission."
"Okay! So, when are you going to give it back to me?"
"Hey.. I am not your paid servant. Is this the way, you talk to people. You have not been picking up the call since afternoon and I am worried that you may be worried about your purse. Am I mad or what? Go to hell", I shouted and put the phone down.
She called me back and said," I am sorry. Don't shout please. I am really very sorry. Okay.. so when should I come to take it back."
Till the time I could say anything, she said," Tomorrow? ten o'clock.. Café Coffee Day?"
"Okay... No problem."
The next day, I reached their at nine fifty-five. But she came at ten-thirty.
"Oh C'mon. You are late."
"I am sorry. I need to leave. Otherwise, my boss will kill me. I am really sorry. I will talk to you on WhatsApp. Bye... And Thank you so so so much.."
"Bye bye.."
We talked for the whole night. We came to know a lot about each other. We even decided to catch-up on Saturday.
On Saturday, we went to a restaurant and it was a great experience. We started meeting like that. Talking to her became a part of my schedule.
One day, she called me and asked me to accompany her to Bandra. She wanted to shop something for herself. It was a nice place. I have already visited it many a times but with her, it seemed even fantastic. It was not a date but just an outing. We saw The Gateway Of India, Taj Hotel, Oberoi and many more famous places to visit.
In the end we went to the Marine Drive. It was so beautiful. The clock struck six, the atmosphere was dusky and sun's beautiful reflection made it even more calm and soothing. I loved that day. We clicked a lot of pictures.
Both of us had our jobs in Mumbai and lived alone there. We had our families in Bangalore. Sometimes, we stayed at each others' place, if got late. Earlier we were friends but by-and-by, our priorities changed and we gave more attention to each other. We used to take off from the job, if we felt like spending time with each other.
Once, she fell sick. She didn't tell me anything and slept as soon as she came back home from office. I called her a dozen times. But she didn't pick. So, I went to her place. I saw her lying on the bed and immediately called the doctor. Till the time he came, I checked her fever.
After checking, the doctor said that she had body pain due to excess physical work along with mental stress. He even asked if I had checked her fever.
"Yes... It was hundred and two. Anything to be ensured?"
"Obviously. Take proper care of her and give her fresh fruits if she asks something to eat. These are the medicines. This is the way, they are to be taken."
I dropped him to the door and ordered the medicines from the nearest chemist.
She was shivering. I put a blanket on her and tried to make her feel warm. I cut an apple and a pomegranate for her and fed her like a little kid. She was still physically weak. I gave her medicines and made her sleep. I also slept after she did. She took an off for two days and I did all her office work along with taking care of her and her home.
"Please.. don't do that. I will do it on my own."
"Shut up and rest. Don't get up from that place. Stay there."
I wanted her to rest well and get well as soon as possible. I wasn't liking her silence. It was killing me.
After two days, she got better.
"Hey Adi..."
"Yes Nuts.."
( I called her nuts in love )
"Why did you do all this?.."
"Because you are...", I took a pause..
"I am...", She said, her eyebrows raised, and eyes getting bigger.
"You are the one who I think I love."
"Oh C'mon. Do you really?"
"Mmm...", I again took a pause.
She came close to me and kissed me and kept kissing for about a couple of minutes.
After an year.....
(We took a break from our jobs and went back home to catch up our families for some time.)
We told our families about each other. Their first reaction was a shocking one but after meeting our choice, both the families felt good.
We decided to arrange a family meeting. Fortunately, it was also successful. Our families loved our choice and they agreed for us getting together.
We got married within a few months' time.
And now, I have two beautiful kids.
