Elena's POV -

I woke up in an instance. "Stupid alarm". I mumbled to myself. I must've forgotten to turn it off. It was the first day of the Christmas holidays here in Australia and I was looking forward to sleeping in until the late afternoons. But of course, things never seemed to go my way.

I looked at my bed sheets which had been ruffled and twisted, still somehow covering up my bare legs. I glanced at my beside table and grabbed my phone so I could switch off the continuous ringing. '7:45'. "Damn." I mumbled to myself again. I unlocked my phone, finding a text from my best friend Macy.

'Hey sleepy head, call me when you see this. I have something important to ask you!!'

Something important? Well I guess this couldn't wait. I scrolled down my contacts list until I found 'Mace ♥'.

"Elena! Finally, you're awake!" Macy laughed at herself. I joined in, gigling a bit.

"It's so early though!" I whined, making Macy giggle a bit more.

"Whatever you say! Anyway I was thinking, since it's the start of our holidays and we can do whatever the hell we want...." Macy annoyingly stopped, making me unpatient.

"Oh don't be a tease, tell me already!"

"Well, I was thinking of going to spend time with my cousins up in Barcelona and I was just wondering if you --

"Of course I'll come!" I squealed.

"Really!? Well, we leave tomorrow morning, around 5am, but I'll tell you more when you come over."

"I'm coming over?" I asked, confused.

"Of course, now be here by 10, alright?"

"I guess so".

"Okay, well I'm gonna head off. See you soon!" Macy chirped.

"Yep, see you." I replied and hung up. '10 o'clock', I thought. That should give me enough time to get ready. I think.

I finally had the courage to get up, after a few minutes of scrolling through Facebook and Instagram. I decided to send a tweet out to my followers.

"@Laney_Clark Sleeping is definitely my number one bestfriend #holidays"

I searched my wardrobe for a casual outfit. I grabbed my floral printed, high wasted shorts, my plain white singlet top and went to my drawers for my bra and undies. I then headed to the bathroom to take a nice, cold shower and get ready.

After my shower, I applied some light concealer under my eyes to hide the dark circles and a bit of foundation. I then used a bit of mascara and some dark eyeliner. 'This should do'. I thought to myself. I glanced at my wet, brown hair before heading to the kitchen.

I saw my little sister stuffing her mouth with some pancakes and mum typing rapidly on her laptop.

"Maggie! Slow down, you'll end up choking." I laughed at her, looking at her face that was covered with maple syrup. Maggie blushed and then giggled. "Sorry."

I went to the cupboard and poured out some fruit loops into a bowl, along with some milk. I looked at the clock on the wall. '9:23'. That's more then enough time. I smiled at myself for accomplishing something.

When I came into the kitchen, I spotted my mum doing the dishes.

'I'll help". I kindly offered. Mum was suprised.

"You're up early!" Mum replied.

"Yeah, I forgot to turn off my school alarm." Mum laughed.

"So, this morning Macy asked me if I wanted to come with her on her holiday." I spoke.

"And where exactly is she going?" She asked curiously.

"Barcelona..." I mumbled, squinting my eyes hoping she wouldn't lecture me about how that was far away.

"And how long will you be gone for?" Mum asked again, raising her eyebrow.

"I'm not sure, Macy wanted me to head over to hers so she could give me the details. But I leave tomorrow..."

"Tomorrow?" Mum raised her tone. I gave her the best puppy dog eyes I could.

"Mum, I'm 18, c'mon". I said pleadingly.

"Well, I can't say the answer is yes, bit it would be a good idea for you to get out and about instead of spending so much time on your phone".

"Thank you so much mum!" I squeezed her tightly. I quickly finished helping her wash the dishes with a huge grin on my face.

"Is it alright if I head out to Macy's house now?" I kindly asked.

"Fine". She replied. "Have fun."

I grabbed my car keys and bag from the bench and headed outside. As I got to my car, I searched my bag for a smoke and my lighter. Yes, I smoke. And yes I know, I'm young and probably the type of person you would never expect to smoke but I found smoking really relaxing.

I glanced down at my scars on my arm. It was much better than scaring myself.

I started the engine and drove to Macy's, turning up the volume to my favourite song #GETITRIGHT by Miley Cyrus.

It was such a nice and peaceful day.
