Ved's POV
"Aryan.." Maya barely whispered. She instantly ran into the nursery. I looked at the gang from upstairs. Caleb, Nicholas and Wong stood behind Aryan faithfully. I guess some things don't change in spite of years passing by.
"Ved! How are you!" Aryan boomed from downstairs. I walked down the stairs stiffly.
"What are you doing in my house Aryan?" I asked, my teeth gritted.
"Oh come on man, is this the way to welcome your old buddies?" Aryan asked. Nicholas and Caleb snickered behind him while Wong just appeared bored.
"What. Do. You. Want?" I asked him clearly.
"There's no need to rush Ved. But I just came to discuss your marriage with Fiona." Aryan said as he took a seat in the armchair in the living room.
"That's none of your business." I snarled at him as I sat opposite to him.
"Yes it is Ved, because Fiona happens to be my ex girlfriend." Aryan spat. Caleb and Nicholas nodded in agreement. Wong just stood by with his trademark bored expression.
"So what? Fiona is now my fiance and has nothing to do with you." I stated clearly.
"I still love Fiona you imbecile. So I am giving you a single chance for old times sake. Break the engagement." Aryan said, leaning forward in his seat.
"Why should I do that Aryan?" I asked him, leaning back in my seat.
"Because I have control over the three people that you care about the most. Inayah, Maya and oh, let's see that daughter of yours, Vedya." Aryan said.
Anger blazed in my eyes. "You can't do anything to them."
"I can Ved, especially knowing that two of them are under your roof at the moment." Aryan said with a smirk. Fear filled inside me. Aryan knew Maya was here?
"If I wanted, I could hurt Inayah and Vedya this moment. Inayah seems scared of me already. Ran like the wind once she saw me." He said chuckling. I exhaled in relief. He thought Maya was Inayah.
"I am yet to find Maya. But once I find her, she will be the first one I will hurt. For old times sake right?" Aryan said with a smirk, giving Caleb a high five.
"Don't you dare-"
"The decision is in your hands Ved. If you don't do what I say, I will hurt your family." Aryan said, standing up. He walked out of my house, Caleb and Nicholas in tow. Wong stopped for a second.
"You did good Ved, by leaving the gang then. This gang is costing me my relationships and everything. Aryan has a hold over everything in my life. But let me know man, if you need anything. You have my number." Wong said, walking out.
I was dazed at what had just taken place. I didn't know what was going to happen if I kept going with the marriage. Fiona was just a marriage of convenience for me. I was deeply in debt with her dad because he had helped our family so much. The only way I could pay him back was marry his daughter. My parents had arranged this marriage and I unwillingly agreed to it. But nothing was final yet. In fact, Aryan was helping me to an extent by giving me a get out of jail free card from this marriage.
Maybe I should just end the marriage. It would mean that I could win Maya back.
"Ved, if you are thinking about what I think you are thinking, I want you to think it really through before you take any decision." Mary said behind me.
"How-"
"I came to realize a lot of things today. You and Maya were friends back in high school? Ved, I'm sorry to say but you don't treat her like a friend. And it seems like you two were more than friends." Mary said. As much as I didn't like what she said, she was right. I was cold and cruel towards her ever since she entered my life.
