A.N -- Before we begin this adventure I would like to remind y'all to check the description of this story first if you already haven't. It has some useful information about this before you read! Thanks for viewing!

Also, a special thanks to Ria for convincing me to do this!

Emily's POV

"Get out of the street little girl!" a husky voice called.

"I ain't little!" I said back.

The sound of honking cars wishing to drive ahead and crunching punches being thrown made me walk faster. Of course, at this hour of the day, these men decide to have a fight in the dead middle of the street. They are even holding up the cross walk! My decision to go on and walk past seemed to have given the bearded boy an advantage, the blue haired boy he was fighting told me to get out of the street. With the blue boy turning his head at me, rushing me out of the scene, the bearded boy took his chance, slamming his elbow into the collarbone of his opponent. I flinched at the sound of two bones slamming together. Whatever it was, it sounded very, very painful.

Now the blue haired boy was angry, his veins popped out even more in his firm and muscular arms, and he growled. A strong, deep growl. How do people even growl like that?  I quickly returned my attention to the sidewalk before blue boy could pounce, shoving the screams and curses out of my brain. I I have seen fights before, been in fights even, but this. This is something you don't see everyday. I would stay by and watch, but I'm afraid I cannot take another lecture from my boss about being late.

Hmm, but who cares? I don't, not right now...

Turning around in my steps I observed as more men joined in the brawl. But they weren't joining, they were trying to break it up, each getting shoved away. I bet on blue hair winning.

As if he heard my thoughts, the blue haired boy spotted me in the crowd and smiled. God, he had a really pretty smile. Then returning his attention to the man on top of him. He flipped the bearded guy over and hovered over him, shoving the tip of his shoe into his side with full force. The screams from man getting kicked caught the attention of a nearby building's security. At the sight of police I walked back onto my original path.

Now that is worth being late for.

I grabbed my backpack by the straps and slid it off my shoulders in one swipe. "Sorry boss man! My monthly started on the way over and I didn't know what to do so I went back home real quick! I'm here now!" Letting my bag drop in the back closet I smacked my hat on my head and took out my work lanyard. Mr. Sanchez glared at me as I rushed to my spot behind the counter. "Wow Emily, seems like you get your...monthly,  everyday? Unless you have another reason for being late?"

"Cut the crap boss man. I'm honest, remember?" I smirked. "It won't happen again, I just need to keep my *cough* vaginal tampons *cough* in my bag."

I laughed at his reaction, frozen in his tracks he shook his head and sighed, then walked away. Noah and I found out about his fear of feminine problems when he got me the job, those feminine problems. We use use it against him whenever we have the chance. Not to be disrespectful or mean. Well, maybe to be mean...

"You know one day you're gonna push it Emily." Noah said chuckling.

"What if you push it one day? Huh Snakey?" I laughed. Since Noah got his first tattoo about a year back, a snake 'ring' on his left middle finger, I couldn't help but give him an honorable nickname along with it.

I've been fortunate to have my best friend get me a job. Being a teenager who wants a lot of things requires money, I needed money. After pitching my wish to Noah he helped me think of places to work, eventually I ended up here. Zumiez has always been my go to shopping place, that is when I can afford it. I started working here back in February, it was one of Noah's birthday gifts to me. It may not be the best job to have when you're going to graduate within a year and a half, but it's good. I won't stay here all my life anyway. Zumiez is just one pit stop throughout my road trip, if ya get what i mean.

I got labor and I've never been happier about it. I used to think it sounded weird to work while you're still young, but now its one of the best parts of my day.

I'm definitely lucky, not only is the paycheck great and my coworkers, but my best friend and I work at our favorite store, I wouldn't trade this for the world. Though, we both get a little too energetic during our shifts sometimes, boss man still thinks we're great.  I'm still immature, but mature enough to take work seriously, most the time...

Noah's POV

Emily took on helping this guy with blue hair find an online order while I was organizing the jackets to the left of them. People manage to put them back on the wrong hangars a lot, it shouldn't matter I guess, but things have to stay neat around here or it will get too wild. I took a quick glance at the two of them behind me. Tall, buff, but he had dried blood on his clothes, a split lip and even a dark purple black eye. Should I call somebody?  I dragged my eyes down to his arm, bruised with a clenched hand. He had a flask in his fist. Next, the suspicious guy leaned onto the counter, inching closer to Emily. This has trouble written all over it. I jogged over to see what was going on only to be filled with rage. "That's Caleb, Caleb this is Noah. Noah he was just going to give me a little. Don't flip out please, okay?" Emily shrugged. No. No...

"Nice to meet you Caleb." I hissed, snatching the flask from his hand. "You have three choices brother, either mall security can deal with you, and trust me they're hard-asses. Walk out with no trouble, or deal with me if you want to be a punk and stay."

"Oh quit the tough guy act." he smiled. Suddenly I felt a hit into my gut, but I kept my grip on the bottle. Sanchez sprinted over and pulled the blue haired boy away from me. I patted down on my now wrinkled shirt and radioed the security to come in. With a dirty look Caleb stared at me while being escorted out. If you're going to get buzzed in a mall, at least be better at covering it up.

I looked at the black flask in my hand and shoved it into my pocket.

"What was that for?" Emily pulled me aside into one of the fitting rooms with a panicked look. "That would not be your choice to make! He was really sweet and I don't need you to babysit me!"

I sighed thinking what to say. "Em, take a moment to think about this, you  would have gotten into trouble with boss man, and you don't need-"

"You don't know what I need Noah so stop!" She cut me off, her voice raising. Emily has her own opinion on this stuff, unfortunately that's where we differ. But I will not  let her do something like this right now. "Maybe I can make my own choices because I want to, I don't need you to be my parent! I just wanted to have a little fun, but no you don't want that for me obviously."

"I was trying to protect you! Hell, you could have gotten fired and you know that!"

Sanchez waltzed over to stop our argument before it could escalate more. How much worse could it get though?

I watched Emily roll her eyes and turn angrily to the door before letting out one last sentence in a sarcastic way, "Oh Noah. My hero."
