''You can make it, I know you can, you don't even have to stay all the way through, come on Gwen, just this one time. ''
''But even if I decide to go with you I have nothing to wear, this is a royal ball, you can't expect me to just waltz in looking like John Carter. ''that is taken care of Gwen. So does this mean your coming? '' I sigh, arguing anymore would be pointless so I just give up. ''Yes I will'' she jumps up and down happily at my defeat, '' see you at my place by five OK? '' '' Yea see you then. ''
My name is Gwen silver, your regular receptionist at a five star hotel. The pay is good, and so long as I get paid I got no problems, my best friend Stella was just trying to convince me to go over to a royal ball with her, she got engaged to a duke who I apparently haven't met yet, But from what I hear that dude might as well
Sell his life for her. Sometimes I wonder if they're acting a fairy tale, the rest of the day runs really slow for me and my shift finally ends by four pm. I wave to my colleagues as I walk out the hotel, it's cold, too cold and I have to walk home, Great! I mutter to myself as I hear a scream, it's not even fully dark yet and they're having their way already, I speed up my movements still muttering incoherently. We lived among humans in peace for as long as I can remember, suddenly some of our kind started to break the rules, it would be pretty dumb to walk around aimlessly as a human. Fortunately, most of us vampires still acted civilized and wouldn't act like animals who owned the food chain, but just as there are human murderers, the same goes for vampires. Recently it's been a lot easier to pick out humans because of the grey skies and snowy nights. I get home and quickly change to a blue jean and a grey sweater before rushing to Stella's place, I get there with a minute left, it would have been serious trouble. I knock loudly on the door and she soon opens up, we hug before I go in and make my way to the fire place taking a comfortable spot on the couch, I don't feel the cold but sometimes I wish I could.
'' Gwen. I suggest you have an early dinner, I have a feeling you won't be able to do that again''''OK, but no one says we can't get drunk and filled at the same time. ''
We both laugh because we know getting drunk almost never happened for us, we had to consume an enormous amount of alcohol first. I go to the kitchen to help out and have my early dinner of pasta. Stella goes In before me to change and calls me in afterwards, I'm completely stunned by the sight I see. A perfectly tailored red gown fitting above and flaring beneath, an emerald green necklace, Clutch purse and killer hills matching her eyes, her brunette hair packed into a bun and stylishly pinned down, she was beautiful.
'' Hey, Woman! Come take a seat before you fall for me ''
''Well it wouldn't be so bad, but unfortunately your taken. ''
She grins at the thought of her fiance. '' Alright cupcake, strip. '' I'm puzzled by her command but do it anyway, arguing with her would be like trying to commit suicide. I'm left in my underwear as she goes to get wardrobe and tells me to close my eyes. I do so then feel her take off my bra and help me into a rather complicated dress, I groan with dissatisfaction for not seeing what is being done to me. I'm pulled to a chair and the make up begins, after what seems like ages, she tells me to open my eyes. My own reflection shocks me, the beautiful blue dress bringing out my eyes, my blonde hair neatly clipped to the side, this was amazingly perfect.
'' So do you like it? ''
''What! I love it, thank you so much''
I lean in to hug her briefly when we hear a knock on the door, she goes to answer and yells our ride had arrived, a limo was seated outside, a man in a nicely fitted grey suit led us in as he opened the door for us to go in. I had never been in a limo before now but God this was sweet, the drive to the mansion was short, once again I was struck by awe as we entered the driveway, the marble walls stood out with a beautiful fountain a few feet away creating a mini Roundabout to and from the driveway, every piece of the building perfectly worked on. The driver whispered something to a man who took us in too a large hall filled with royalty and people of real status, I wasn't even meant to be here, all eyes on us as we walked in. Who wouldn't notice us when we literally wore notice me signs on us. The Duke took no time in finding us. '' Stella! Nice to see you finally arrived, it was a long wait. '' He approached with a smile giving Stella a peck on his arrival. ''Jordan, this is my best friend, Gwen .'' Nice to meet you dear, he says to me taking my have up for a kiss.'' Stella has told me so much about you. ''
'' wow! Has she? ''
''Of course. Your even more beautiful in person, but, well.... You know, she is my one and only. ''
Stella reddens like meshed Tomatoes. The Duke wasn't bad either, he was dressed in a sleek black suit and a red bow tie, his hair hung loosely behind him and his grey eyes seemed unreal. He was nice.''Well, make yourself comfortable my dear, try to get along. '' I smiled as he took off in the opposite direction with Stella blushing and finally winking at me before disappearing into the crowd.
I walked around aimlessly avoiding any guy who wanted to hook up. Finally, the time for the main event had come, I was drowning in boredom already, the ball was in honor of the prince for is 998th birthday, man! the guy was old. The master of ceremony spoke and welcomed prince Micheal Bryant the sixth, all the ladies around me went wild as he came up, I couldn't help but listen to their gossip, ''I hear he's meant to pick a suitable bride from this ball, ohhhhhh I hope he picks, me, dream on girls I'm sure I'll be the one'' I just giggle at their stupidity and take a glass of blood from the waiter passing by. The prince was beyond good looking, his short raven hair spiked up and styled by the best, his dark eyes were perfect and his body pressing against the suit he wore showed he was muscular, this was what any girl would want.
'' it's time for the prince to pick a dancing partner. ''
I ignored the statement taking more sips of the blood I had, I pitied whoever was killed for it.
''The lady in the blue dress.''
