My name is Lance Ocampo. 15 years old, handsome, intelligent, and popular. Well, don't argue with me. Everyone does say i'm handsome and i'm the top in the class. Today begins my third year life. I agree with myself that i'm popular because i am the son of the CEO of Ocampo Malls, the second biggest mall in the Philippines. As I begin my first day of school, I have been told by Caesar of my schedule after school.
" After school, 5 pm, you will have an urgent meeting with Mr. John Largo, the Vice-President of Largo Malls." said Caesar
" Where's Mrs. Lucia Largo ? Can't she come?" I asked
" Yes," he answered " Mrs. Largo is also gonna have a meeting with the CEO of Bangoy Malls in Cagayan de Oro."
" Well, cancel my meeting." I said
" Sir?" he asked
" Well, I agreed to have a meeting with the CEO of Largo Malls, not the VP." I answered
" Understood sir."
Asking why i'm having meetings with my father's business partners? Dad said it's a part of my training. He said he's not gonna live longer so at an early age, he trained me from the basics to the hard parts. I didn't disagree because there will come a time that I, Lance Ocampo, will take place as CEO of Ocampo Malls and I don't want to be a disgrace to my father. I am not like other kids who go all " I don't like my Father! He doesn't have time for me! He's always busy at work!" but I am a son who says " My father is busy? Well, if it's for my future, I understand. How about I help him at work?" . I'm the one they call a practical person. While I am eating my breakfast, Caesar added my schedule.
" Sir," he added " you will have a meeting with an important guest at 6 PM, tonight."
" Where will be the meeting?" I asked
" Just here, sir." he answered
" Okay."
I finished eating my breakfast and prepare myself to go to school.
" Would you need a ride, sir?" he inquired
" No, not at all. I'll be commuting. I have to pass by a near bookstore anyway near the school." I answered
" Understood, sir."
" And no guards following me, okay?"
" You sure have sharp eyes, sir."
" You bet."
I left my house and I have to pass by a bookstore because I will buy a book which was suggested by a friend before I go to school. As I went inside a bookstore, I hurried to the fiction area.
" Angels and Demons. Angels and Demons. Angels and - There it is!"
As I got the book, another person has touch the book. This is gonna be a long argument. I looked at the person who also likes the book. A girl, fair complexion, blonde hair, and at least 5'6 of height. She had boyish looks because of the way she dresses.. I didn't want to waste time so I went straight to the point.
" Miss, I got this book first so, it's mine. If you want one, you can go search one." I said
" Dude?! Never heard of ladies first?" she asked
" There are no ladies who call us, men, dudes." I answered
" Hmm.. Not a gentleman I see."
There was a long silence. She stared me for a long time until -
" Just give me that f*cking book, Dude! " she said while kicking my crotch
It was painful. So painful. I can't control the pain. I had to roll in floor and shout. As I was screaming for pain, she hurriedly got the book, went to the cashier, and left.
" Hey!" I angrily said to the cashier
" Sir?" he asked
" You knew I got that book first," I said " yet you sold it to her."
" Well sir, she first inquired me about the book. " he said " So i could count that the girl, who just bought the book, was the first."
"Sir," he added " If you'd like, we'll make you a reservation. We will order it from you from the publishing company. Just leave your name and you can get it next week."
" Lance Ocampo" I said as I angrily walked out the bookstore.
Today is a very unlucky day to me. I was supposed to have that book, but then she bought it. Now, I have to wait next week to read. Second, I got kicked in my crotch. That was painful! I'm thinking of having a check-up this weekend. What are worse things that are still in progress to happen to me, today?
I checked my watched. It's 7:20 already! I have to hurry to school, or else, I'll be late!
I was just in the school gate when the bell rang. I have five more minutes until I can reach my classroom. My classroom is on the third floor in the School's Main Building. I ran as fast as I could until I bumped into a person.
" Sorry," I said " It's my fault."
" No, no. " she insisted " it's mine to blame."
She dropped something.
" Miss, you dropped something" I said
Angels and Demons. Ohh, we have same interests.
" Miss, here's your book."
As I gave it to her. Both our eyes looked at each other. Wait -
" Your'e - your'e that girl from the bookstore!" I shouted
And - I got slapped.
