~One Week Later~
They caught the guys who did it. The police officers responsible for Xavier's disappearance. In other words, death. Both men had a child who had been killed in the shooting, that should have been checked out before they handed Xavier over to them. It just added one more death to the down's list. One nobody needed.
Granted, there were the people who were happy to get their revenge. But in the end, what did the boy's death really bring them? Not closure, because it didn't do anything but hurt one more family, the boy's family.
Even Anna didn't see justice in killing him like that, she just shook her head and left the room where I sat watching the news broadcasters cover the tragedy over and over again. It was a nightmare.
The anchors didn't know when to leave the children alone. They kept asking and asking questions about what happened in the school. Once, they had asked Anna to speak on the air about exactly what had happened. At first, she refused, then changed her mind.
When Anna had arrived at the station she acted traumatized and scared, but when she was on air, she told them exactly what she had wanted to say all along. "You people watch this for enjoyment?" She sounded exasperated, "Kids no older than nineteen were trapped in a building with a boy, and a gun. That's what happened. You've heard the story, there's nothing more to tell. If there's anyone out there that thinks my story, our story, is a great pastime, then screw you. Screw all of you." She had stormed off stage, leaving behind a flabbergasted crowd.
It had been a rough week after the trial, and we had all been working hard to keep Anna from doing something stupid. Ellie and I had switched on and off watching her, and Anna refused to go home to see her parents. She said it was too hard without Danny. She just needed time to heal... we all did.
