A loud sound of people clapping woke me up; the plane landed. All the people are happy and clap with excessive excitement. It’s my country’s people, always making a fuss over nothing, but that’s what’s nice about them since they’re always happy and look at the bright side… well, sometimes.
I leave the plane and get my luggage. Joanne told me to wait for her at the entrance. She should be holding a paper with my name on it.
Here she is!
“Joanne! Joanne! » I shout.
“Alex?! Finally, I was looking everywhere for you!” She exclaimed.
I study her with a little curiosity; she has brown hair and piercing green eyes just like Jonas’s.
She’s beautiful…
" Here let me help you with your luggage”
I hand her half of my belongings and we head towards the car.It was a 2 seats car, old but fixed in a way making it modern.
“Wow, what kind of car is this? “
“It’s a PGO speedster II. I bought it a couple of weeks ago.”
“It’s perfect!”
After this little conversation, we get in the car and Joanne speeds of in the direction of her house.
30 minutes have passed and we were now standing in front of a big gate that connected 2 old walls. There was a guard standing in front of it.
“Ciao Joanna!” He greets her.
« Hello Tomas! Open the gate for me please!” she shouts to him. The portal opened.
Oh my god!
There is a village. It isn’t a normal one. It is an old village, like the ones in the middle ages.
“Wow” I whisper.
“Isn’t it beautiful? This village is old, renewed by us, the citizens, nobody can enter it, except us and you now …” she tells me with a smile. “Now, we will go home to put your luggage and to have some rest. Tomorrow I will show you around.”
“Okay Aunty thank you for everything. By the way, when does the school begin? Summer is nearly over" I ask her. School is the only way for me to socialize with the people in the same age as me here.
“It already started; you can begin any time you wish. I already talked with the director.” She explains. ”I’m sure you’ll love this place. People are kind, friendly and nice, plus, it isn't a normal village. It’s full of surprises, of things that only existed in the past.” She continues.
I look at the window, and contemplate the view. Full of trees, the hills look like a green dress. In front, a bridge connects two hills. His feet dive in a small river.
“I Hope so.” I reply.
After 5 minutes of silence, we arrived to an old house. In front of it stood a small garden.
“We arrived” Declares Joanne.
We enter the house, by a door designed with flowers. The outside of the house is half covered with a plant. In the inside, the ceiling is very high.
“Aunty? Can I call you Joanne or Jo’ simply?” I ask her.
“It will be better. I don’t want to feel old.” She jokes.”Your room is in the second floor, third room on the left. I hope you’ll like it, I designed it for you, we can change it if you like.”
I climb the stairs while contemplating the beauty of the house, walls, furniture. I feel like I’m in a book, a story dating back a century. The stairs are made of old wood that makes it value, the walls are made of white stones that allow to keep cool the temperature.
This is the first room, second and the third.
I open the door, and see a wonderful bedroom. It has three colors, yellow, gray and white. The bed was at the bottom, the wardrobe was on the left, beside, there is a desk below several shelves. On the right, there is a door that leads to a balcony where Jo’ put a table with chairs. On the last wall, there is a small armchair beneath a window where there is a vase of flowers.
I love it. This room is gorgeous. This is totally me.
While I began to unwrap my luggage, I heard a knock on the door.
“Can I enter?” I immediately recognize this voice. It was Jo’.”Sure!” I replied.
“I wanted to tell you, that tomorrow night we will have a ball, it’s a tradition here. Every year on the 21 September we make a theme ball. This year it’s a masquerade. Everyone must wear a mask.” She explained.” Tomorrow while visiting the village, we will buy you one. Is it good for you?”
“Yeah!! It’s awesome.”
“Okay. Do you need help with your luggage?” she asks.
“No thanks. I’m fine doing it myself.” I reply with a smile.
“Okay. I’ll be preparing the dinner, when it will be done I’ll call you” with that she left me alone.
After all, maybe the last days of that horrible summer will be better ...
