Papyrus
We've been wandering for days. My clothes were dirty, torn, worn out. The rain didn't help. My ripcage continued to hurt emensly from that woman's rolling pin, but for Sans's sake, I acted like it was nothing. That was a total lie. Night fell over the countryside, and the storm clouds were even darker. We continued walking down the street, and I read the sign. "Hope Street" the sign said. I smiled, knowing that this was a sign of good fortune. No pun intended. Sans walked next to me, his scarf held up over his head to protect him from the rain. It helped, but not much. Water dripped off the scarf and seeped into his clothes. "This is it," I told my brother, "I have a good feeling about this one." After we lost everyone else at the airport, Sans's cheerful nature turned sour. I could see a shimmer of cheer on his face before he continued to fight a losing battle against the falling rain. The first house didn't answer our knocking. No one was home I thought to myself. We tried the next house. We could see a glowing screen through the large front window, and a girl on the couch. She stood up and walked towards the door. When she opened the door, she was blatantly shocked. Sans hid behind me, clinging to my leg. I waited a moment, then said "Human, my brother and I would like to seek refuge for the night." "Who are you?" She responded, clearly frightened. I removed Sans's hands from my leg and said back, "My name is Papyrus. And this," I stepped to the side, "Is my brother, Sans." Sans gasped, and quickly returned to his position behind me. "What's wrong with him?" She asked. "Eh, he's just paranoid. Everyone else we've asked for help yelled at us, threw things at us. Hell, one even...." I couldn't finish. My ribcage exploded into pain. I clutched the damaged ribs, and Sans shrieked. The girl looked genuinely scared. "Are you okay?" She asked. I remembered Sans. "No, I'm fine. Couldn't be better!" She reached out to pull me up. I took her hand and stood up."One of them sit me square in the ribs with a rolling pin." She gasped. I let out a sad chuckle. "Come in, please. I have medical supplies. Follow me." An inaudible sound of joy came from Sans. "Finally, a place to stay!" He said. I motioned him to follow me as I followed the girl. She opened the bathroom door, and told me to wait here. She disappeared and returned 5 seconds later with a chair. She set it down against a wall. And motioned for me to sit. I followed her instructions. She instructed me to take off my sweatshirt, and I did. I handed it to her, and she hung it on a towel rack. Sans stood next to me as the girl took out a roll of bandages and an orange pill container. She unraveled some of the bandage roll, and told me this might hurt. Sans dashed in front of me and blocked the girl from doing anything. He was breathing heavily. I whispered to him that I'll be okay, and he reluctantly slumped back to my side. She wrapped my cracked and broken ribs. She was right, it did hurt. A lot. When she finished, my sweatshirt was handed back to me. "There. In a couple days they will heal fully." She turned around and gave me back my sweatshirt, and I pulled it on. My ribs continued to pulse with pain, but much less. She grabbed the pill container, and turned back to me, and asked me if I could take a pill. I replied that I could, but she seemed suspicious. "But, how?" I was asked. I replied, "Would you believe me if I said magic?" "Today I've seen two walking talking skeletons. At this point I can believe just about anything," she said back. I laughed with Joy for the first time since the airport. She handed me the pills and the glass of water, and I took one. "So," I began, "Since you're ready to believe anything, can I explain how we got here?" "I would love to, but first, you need some rest." She motioned us to follow her, and we did. She opened up a door to a guest room with a comfy chair, dresser, closet, and a bed. Sans sprinted for the bed and dove head first right into it, his face burried in pillows. The human started to laugh, and I laughed with her. Sans’s muffled laughter was  enough indication that he was finally happy. Almost immediately Sans was fast asleep. I realized that if I tried to move him, he would wake up, so I laid back in the chair. I looked up  at the girl. "Words can't describe how grateful we are. Whelp, good night," I told her. And my eyes shut, ready for a good night's sleep.
