Some people come into your life as blessings or lessons. In the case of Nathaniel Grey, he was definitely a blessing. We all have that person that holds a special place in our hearts. He holds one in mine and this is where our love story begins.

Caroline's POV
My eyes flutter open to the sound of my brother turning on the shower. I slowly roll out of bed, searching for my phone. I click on the screen to see a few Instagram notifications and a dozen messages from Venus. Venus, my best friend since we were nine. Smart, beautiful, and quite annoying, Venus. I send a quick reply saying for her to wait for me in our spot. I stretch my arms above my head and let out a yawn, rising to my feet. Turning on my playlist, I head to my bathroom to brush my hair and teeth. I hum along to my favorite song, All Time Low by Jon Bellion.
I dance over to my closet, swinging my strawberry blonde locks around. I pull out my favorite pair of ripped, black, high waisted jeans and a off the shoulder cropped shirt. Picking out my favorite pair of red converse, I head to my vanity. I keep it simple by filling in my brows and applying some mascara. Once satisfied, I pick up my already prepared backpack and head downstairs.
Liam, my twin brother, sits at the counter eating a muffin that our mother made. He has on his Varsity football jacket because he's the star quarterback. I grab a blueberry muffin. "Yum, my fav," I say to Liam, "Are you ready for the first day of our senior year?"
"Yeah, but I'm most excited to see Becca looking hot as hell in her cheer uniform." I scoff and roll my eyes, because Becca is the bane of my existence. She thinks she's so cool and hot in her damn cheer uniform, it makes me want to vomit.
I pick up my phone and text Venus, I'm heading out right now I'll be there in five. Liam grabs his keys and we hop in his Jeep. Pulling out of the driveway, Liam puts on some annoying rap music, that he knows I hate. Liam smacks my hand away as I reach for the stereo to change the song.
"Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts her cake hole, " Liam tells me. I just laugh and sit back in my seat.
We pull into a parking space at Eastview High, home of the RedHawks. It hasn't changed in the four years I've been going to school here. I push open my door, grabbing my backpack from the back seat. Liam waves goodbye to me and he walks over to his girlfriend, Becca. I walk over to our spot and spot, not Venus, but a guy in a leather jacket with his back to me. I turn away and pull out my phone. I send a quick text to her, Where are you? Instead of getting a reply, I get a tap on the shoulder and quickly turn around facing Venus.
"Did you see that hot guy over there?" She asks.
"Yeah, who is he?"
"No clue and no time to find out. Let's go find our lockers." She grabs my hand and drags me through the front doors of Eastview High. Our lockers are next to each other, like always. Liam's is next to mine and of course, there is Becca leaning all over it, laughing and twirling her hair like whatever my brother said was absolutely hilarious. She catches me looking at her.
"Hi Caroline, good summer?" she asks me like she actually cares about how my summer was.
"Yeah," I respond putting on a, fake as you can imagine, smile. Venus and I head to our first periods.
* In the last period of the day*
I enter my last class and favorite period of the day, Art. The only empty seat is next to the guy that I saw earlier this morning. I take it. I look over, beginning to introduce myself, but stop as I realize he has headphones in and cannot hear a word I am saying. I turn away and pull out my sketch pad. Art is a side hobby I have, but my main passion is volleyball. In fact volleyball practice starts next week and since I'm team captain I'm obligated to go.
The period bell rings and everyone rushes out of the room. I pull out my phone and text Liam I'll be waiting in the car. About five minutes later Liam arrives. "Ready?" I ask.
"Yep. Oh and by the way there's a start of the school year bash at Chase's house on Friday, we're going," he tells me. I nod in response, rolling down my window and leaning outside. Today wasn't so bad, I thought to myself.
*Later that night*
My alarm clock flashes 10:45 pm. I stare blankly at the white paint on my ceiling, just thinking. Who was that boy from today? He was obviously new, because I would've remembered if a boy like that went to our school. My eyes begin to shut as visuals of him flash behind my eyes.
