Lights Out

"What's going on?"

The power went out. The air was silent for a moment. Liam and Dan took out their phones and turned on their lights. Fred squirmed on the ground, still with a bloody nose.

"Look's like power went out, huh."

Liam looked at Dan and then back to Fred.

"Dan, I think you've done enough damage. Let's go get him a bandage from the nurse's office, it's the least you could do."

"Fine," Dan replied.

The three of them walked out of the locker room towards the nurse's office. The halls had an eerie vibe without the lights on. They reached the nurse's office, Liam shook the doorknob.

"It's locked."

Dan pushed Liam out of the way. "Let me try," he said.

He violently shook the doorknob, the door rattled, Fred started backing away in a slight terror. The door didn't budge. Dan smacked the doorknob and tried again.

Dan looked at the frightened Fred, "Whelp, sorry Freddie, no bandage for you."

A shout came across the hall, "Hey! Is somebody down there?"

The two groups of shadows shined lights towards each other.

Liam looked back at the group, squinted a bit, then yelled back.

"Is that you, Masahiro?"

"Liam! Oh boy am I glad to hear your voice!"

Masahiro was a trumpet player in the marching band. Liam and him had chemistry together, literally. He never really fit in anywhere with a clique, he kind of hopped between multiple cliques all the time. He tended to try and face things realistically, he was a practical person. Masahiro was sometimes called 'Hiro' for short. He wore typically wore an unzipped black hoodie, and a watch.

Behind him were two girls, Ayame and Legacy.

Dan stared at Masahiro, "Looks like you and Ayame are finally a couple now, eh?"

Ayame blushed. Masahiro sighed, "No we just came from the same part of the building, Dan."

Ayame was a quiet girl, she played the flute in the marching band. She and Masahiro were constantly shipped together, because they happened to both be Japanese, and were into similar things. She tended to be reserved, and never really talked to that many other people. She wore a black, zipped up sweatshirt that was big on her. Her hair was brown, and pretty long.

Dan teased, "Was that the restroom? Masahiro you dirty boy."

Liam nudged Dan, "That's enough."

Legacy started to panic, "I forgot my flute, let me just run back and fetch it!"

She bolted down the hallway, without anybody being able to respond. She was always an odd person. She's nice, but she's not exactly the brightest. She had a puffy, blue jacket on her. Her hair was short and blonde.

"Well that was odd," Fred said.

Masahiro looked at Liam, "Where are you guys headed?"

Liam looked back, "We were trying to get a bandaid for Fred, Dan over here punched him in the face." He paused. "As you can see the door's locked."

Ayame spoke up, "I think I have some bandaids in my bag." She opened up her bag and pulled out a plastic container, then took out a bandaid and handed it to Fred."

Fred was surprised. "Thanks," he said.

Masahiro sighed, "Well, do you guys want to go to the front office? See if anyone is there?"

The group agreed and started to walk to the main office.

Masahiro looked around, "Does anybody have a car? I'm not getting any reception and it's way too dark to walk."

"I have a van, I can give everyone a ride if they want," Liam responded.

Nobody was in the office, but there was somebody sitting down by the lobby. They looked towards the group and yelled, "Liam!"

Liam snapped towards the shadow, "Karlie?"

Karlie was Liam's girlfriend, they've been dating for a few years now. She wore a purple sweatshirt and blue jeans. She had long, blond hair.

"I was waiting for you down here, I knew you had your car parked up front."

"Well, let's get going then," Dan said.

He walked towards the front door, the door wouldn't budge.
