A maiden who appears to be the same age as he. When she glanced back, he was smitten.

They made eye contact, and as if impossible, they fell in love at first sight.

_______

The moment they laid eyes, it felt like time stopped just for the both of them.

The Prince took steps forward, but never left the gaze of each other. All the floating whites, known as fairies, flew aside as they made a clear view of the Prince and the maiden. Once he was near enough, he grabbed her hand gently. Pecking it once, made the female blush.

"What is your name, fair maiden?" He stood. Staring mesmerized.

"... Don't you think it's rude to be holding someone's hand without asking for their permission?" Her sweet melodious voice and giggle was enough for the Prince to skip a lot of heartbeats. A faint blush can be seen plastered amongst his cheeks as he observed with memorization.

This was the first time the Prince had laughed in a long time. Even if their conversation was short lived, it was enough for him to accept that this woman before him, WAS the one.

"Fair maiden, I know we've only met, but please bare with my word. My coronation is due as of tomorrow, and I'd be happy to take you as my wife. For my kingdom, and for my heart that seems to be of joy and happiness when part of your presence is at my side. Your smile sends me away, your voice soothes my storm. Hear me, fair maiden."

The Prince asked for the maiden to be his wife, his Queen, his missing piece.

It was as if a dream. The maiden has never met another of her kind. Much less, a prince. His feelings reflected hers. She was on the verge of crying. She had hoped that someday, she would be swept away from the place she was left behind. Her dream came true. And she said--

"Then it is an honor to become your wife, my Prince"

The maiden gladly took his proposal; she was swept away, by her true love.

The kingdom cheered the happy King and Queen. Although at first they were quite curious as to where the maiden was from, They were happy enough to see the prince- or shall we say- The King from, his happy state.

They got to know each other as a wedded couple. But they accepted each other's individual secrets.

Turns out the King and Queen are actually hybrid offsprings of a neighboring country of fairies. Although none questioned the king of his race from the very start for he had more of the looks of her human mother and the skills and ability to lead from his fairy father. He was a halfling.

The same goes for the queen. Although her appearance is human, she could actually understand the fairies. It made sense to the king that she has a blood of a fairy. Not many creatures like fairies dare to ever communicate to normal humans.
