"Hey, Ayanami, do you believe in Verloren?"

I asked, my eyes glimmering, as I fell over the edge. I turned my back on him, my hands out at the sides.

As I fell, inertia pressing me parallel to the ground, further away from the hawkzile, I saw his expression widen in shock, and frowned,

Wasn't Verloren just a bedtime story? My eyes widened in disbelief as he put his hand up to his face, and for a second, his features dissapeared, a skeleton, cloaked in darkness, took his place.

He looked down at me, as I fell now, the ground was coming closer and closer.

I breathed the name, but it was lost to the whistling winds around me.

"Verloren"

My short curly hair streamed back, and I fell, my mind spinning. I put up a shield, but it wasn't strong enough. I miscalculated.

I fell, the ground rising up to meet me. I let out a strangled cry.

The earth enveloped me, and i felt my cheek spring open. Blood trickled down my cheek. Whatever Ayanami had beamed into my head started expanding, and my bright blue eyes sprung open. A ghastly sound escaped my mouth, and the world fell away, as the dirt mountains around me changed. Suddenly it was as if I was looking at a topographical map, lines appeared, and it seemed like I was in a program.

There was a sound. A single voice.

"Calibrating. Master found in critical danger. Unknown substance has entered the master.

There was a grey light, that quickly turned a bright icy blue, and shot up into the air.

I heard the crunching of metal, and the continuous sound of hawkziles leaving me behind.

I layer there, on the ground, with no sound anywhere, and it was night, until something spoke.

"Master, you require 24 more hours of re-calibration. Do you want to continue?"

"Yes."

" that idiot back there tried to remove me from your hand. Calibration may take a bit longer. You will be exposed completely during that time."

"Do it anyway. What is your name?" I asked.

"I am the eye of Alexander." He answered, not a second to spare.

"I've never heard of the eye if Alexander." I said skeptically. "Only Raphael and Mikhail."

The eye chuckled, as I lay, looking up at the stars.

"Of course. I have been dormant for a century, it looks like those idiots have gotten famous, haven't they."

"Hmmmm." I thought.

"I-I apologize, master, I didn't realize." The eye said.

"Enough, Alexander. Start the calibration. We need to be functional as soon as possible." I said, smirking.

"Yes, master." Alexander said in slight amusement, before a blue light swirled under my skin, burning, and replacing tissue as it went.
