I sat quietly in the car listening to the radio play as Tyler drove down the street going to the house we may be buying. The children were in the back either fighting or crying. I had four children; Marceline, we call her Marcie for short, she was the oldest at age 6, her twin brother marshall-lee, we call him marshall, also the oldest at age 6, Tyler junior or TJ, at age 3 and the youngest one was little Avril, her father came up with that name from his favorite singer Avril Lavigne, she was only a month old. I reached my hand over and placed it on Tyler's thigh and smiled. He put his hand on top of mine and leaned over and kissed me.
"Mom! Are we there yet?!" Marshall whined
I chuckled and nodded
"We're almost there sweetie, be patient."
We soon got there and Tyler parked in front of the house. It was an old and historical kind of building but it was still beautiful. It was built in the 1820s and it was a very popular and pricey house. But now, no one has lived in here for years.
Both Tyler and I got out. He helped Marcie, marshall and TJ out of the car while I fiddled around with Avril's car seat trying to unlatch it. I was never good at these things and I sighed. Marcie, marshall and TJ ran in the house and I yelled to them
"Be safe, you three and no fighting!"
I kept tugging and pulling at the latch but I still couldn't get it open. Tyler walked over to me and chuckled a bit
"You need a hand?"
I nodded and he reached into the car seat and unlatched the buckles and took out Avril with no problem. I crossed my arms and groaned
"Why do you have to be so much better at things than I am?"
"Because I'm a man."
He said jokingly and I groaned and gave him the finger. we play fight like this all the time, it's actually quite fun and it never gets old. he handed me Avril and I rocked her a bit. He took my hand and we both walked inside hearing the kids fighting upstairs
"No, I want the big room!"
Marcy said stomping her feet
"No, it's mine!"
Marshall yelled back
"Nuh-uh! it's mine!"
TJ also said in the fight. Tyler and I walked upstairs laughing a bit and saw the bedroom they were fighting over and it was the biggest room in the house
"Kids stop. one, we don't even know if we are buying the house and two, that room would be none of your rooms. It would be mine and your mothers."
Tyler said and the kids whined and moaned. I looked at all of the rooms an there were enough rooms to have a play room, office for me, a man cave for Tyler and a room for each kid to have for themselves. I looked in the bathrooms, there were no mirrors to be seen. I looked in each room, still no mirrors. I thought that was a bit strange but I didn't really mind it. I walked by the door to the basement and heard a little girl laugh
"Marcie?"
I called out and looked down the basement stairs. I heard it again and slowly walked down the steps holding Avril close to me
"Marcie. you know you're not suppose to be down here."
I got to the end of the stairs and looked around seeing old newspaper and some boxes that were left behind. I looked around for Marcie but she was no where to be seen. I looked in the corner and saw some things that were stacked. I walked over and saw that it was mirrors. mirrors that have been painted on, scratched on or even broken to pieces so no one could see the relfection. I started to shiver as I felt as if someone was watching me. I then felt a hand being placed on my shoulder and I jumped and screamed almost dropping Avril and looked back seeing it was Tyler and he was laughing. I punched him in the arm hard and groaned
"That wasn't funny jackass!"
He slowly stops laughing and he hugs me
"Awe, I'm sorry I scared you. but you gotta say, it was pretty funny."
I growled and pushed him away and stomped up the stairs with Avril. He followed and says to me
"So, do you like the house?"
I didn't answer. I was pretty pissed for him scaring me like that.
"C'mon babe. I'm sorry."
I sighed and looked back
"I like the house. I think we should buy it."
He nods
"Gather up the kids and I'll go call the house owner and I'll see how much they want for the house."
I nodded and walked upstairs and got all the kids to come downstairs
"They said to pay as much as we can, they REALLY wanna get rid of the house. so I offered $25,000 and they took it!"
My eyes widened in disbelief
"Wow. That's really cheap!"
He nods and takes Marcie's hand. Marcie has always been a daddy's girl and I doubt she'll stop being one
"Let's go to the house and pack every thing up, alright Maye?"
That was a nickname I had when I was younger. it was short for maryanne. Tyler never stopped calling me that. I nodded and we took the kids back out to the car and buckled them up and I still had problems with Avril but Tyler took care of it. I got in the passenger seat and looked up at the window of the house that was going to be Marcie's room and saw a little girl with clothes from the 1800s on, I couldn't really see her face because she had a hat hiding it. I rubbed my eyes thinking I was seeing things and it was gone. I shook it off and looked forward as Tyler drove off. That house had an eerie feeling but I still loved it anyways.
