There once was a girl so lonely and scared, she cried out for help but nobody cared. She wanted a break, just some time without pain. She wanted some sunshine in her life full of rain. Searching for something to give her some hope, she looked and she looked, finding only a rope. This rope was tied nicely, with a loop at the end, this rope was a noose and she knew it could mend. Lying in bed with this rope on her chest, she tossed and she turned simply praying for rest. She stared at the ceiling, her emotions now gone, replaced by a feeling that was nothing but numb. Her mind brought back everything she felt she'd done wrong, it brought back those words she was constantly running from. The monsters no longer hide under her bed, these days they're residing inside of her head. Every day s the same, her mask hiding her pain. She wears a fake smile, struggling to make it last for a while. Every night she is swallowed by a darkness so deep. she fights with herself avoiding the inevitable sleep.
She hurts. She just wants someone to care, so she shares. She tells them about herself hoping this time will be different. But they run. Tails tucked between their legs, they run fast, another one scared away by her past. Sometimes they stay, but never for long. She waits for the day when they'll realize she's just in the way. She's destined to just be alone. With nothing and nowhere and noone to claim as her own. She's nothing but just skin and bone. Getting picked up and thrown down and kicked all around like a stone. So she wanders aimlessly searching for a place to call home. She always feels so hopelessly alone. She's afraid of the things that no one else sees. She's drowing in water while everyone else breathes. There's an anchor chained to her feet, it's dragging her down way too deep. Sinking farther and farther away from the surface, thrashing her arms as her lungs beg her body for air. She won't last much longer, this world has never been fair. Eyes wide, she screams on last time. Her final scream for help finally heard by those around her. They never saw the anchor attached to her feet. They never saw the scars that were left from her battles with herself. By now they're much too late. She finally let her monsters win, because no one else saw them drowning her as they yelled at her to "Just swim!" Funny how no one sees the signs until they're staring into lifeless, empty eyes. Maybe next time they won't fall for all the lies, all the carefully rehearsed "I'm fine!"'s.
