I stood there watching impatiently as my gloved hands clutched the silver, freezing bar. There were thirty seconds left in the game and there was number twenty-eight running down the field with the brown ball held tightly to his chest.
Ten seconds left.
He moved side to side, pushing past other guys as he ran towards the touchdown line.
Almost there.
Five, four, three.
I screamed my lungs off as he passed the line declaring them the winners of the game. Everyone beside me jumped up and down screaming along with me. I threw the blanket off my back and immediately ran to the bleacher stairs. I didn't stop until I got to the gate that blocked the bleachers from the track. Opening the fence, I ran across the track and onto the field directly to number twenty-eight.
I didn't breathe as his arms wrapped around my waist, picking me up and twirling me around in excitement. I stared in his brown eyes and shook my head with a smile. "You idiot," I yelled over the loud guys next to us.
He set me back on my feet and listened to me as I continued on. "You gave us all a heart attack," I told him and he only grinned widely.
"Cavell!" His coach called walking over to him with a stern look. Talon pulled me to his side, keeping me close for comfort. I bit my lip nervously, clearly sensing he was in trouble by the way the coach was storming over here.
"Yeah, coach?" He asked while sending a slight squeeze to my hand.
"That wasn't the play!" He said pointing to his clipboard angrily. Talon didn't seem sure of what to say as he didn't answer right away, but the coach didn't give him time to respond. "And, you just proved why you're the fucking quarterback. Nice job, son!" He said throwing the clipboard and pulling him into that hug that most guys did.
I stared at the two in awe. One, for the reason of hearing the coach swear and two, for the fact that he was hugging him. Two things that were a rare sight for the coach of ice. When they released their hug, the coach walked over to the rest of the team and looked at them.
"We're going to playoffs!" He screamed over the team loudly causing everyone to erupt in cheers once again.
I smiled at the sight and looked up at my best friend, "Congrats, Cavell." I said and he only smirked before picking me up and putting me over his shoulder. "Okay, ow, ow, feel free to put me down, you idiot! You're embarrassing me and your stupid body armor stuff hurts." I said causing him to chuckle as I pounded my hands against his back. He didn't stop until we were behind the bleachers, a spot where no one could see us.
He set me down by a brick wall that was close to where all the locker rooms are. "I can't believe you actually did it." He said leaning over while laughing as hard as he possibly could.
I felt my cheeks redden at the thought of it myself. "You owe me twenty bucks," I said placing my hand out and signaling for him to hand it over.
He didn't say anything and only continued to laugh. "It's not that funny!" I exclaimed feeling slightly embarrassed.
"You're a fucking God, Talon." The one and only brother of Talon, Jace Cavell said rushing over with a few other guys all of them patting him on the back."We're going to fucking playoffs because of you." He said and Talon finally stopped laughing and smirked.
