I'm running.
Every step I take it gets harder and harder to breath. My small, aching body is pleading me to stop, but I can't. I can't afford to, or else I would have to pay the price of my own life. The echoes of my footsteps can be heard throughout this dirt-filled underground sewer, but I can't hear it. The only sound that fills my ears are the small huffs of breath escaping from my mouth.
I'm running.
Away from something that makes my heart stop and makes me quicken my pace. I'm terrified and afraid. Someone please, please save me. That's all that crosses my mind. I need someone to rescue me, to be my hero, but I know heroes don't exists. It's a fact.
I'm running.
Mindlessly deeper into the darkness. I don't know what or where I'm heading, all I need to do is get away, to escape. Suddenly, I feel hot air on the heels of my bare feet. It's close, too close. If I don't hurry, I will certainly die; if I don't die from exhaustion.
I'm running.
"There's no need to continue trying to escape, I finally have you in my grasp, Mar-." The monster spoke, sending ghostly chills on my spine.
"Be QUEIT! I NEVER want to hear you say that name!" I scream cutting him off still running. The thing stays quiet but I can feel a sinister smile appearing on it's face.
"Oh dear, oh dear," it starts. I can sense it, it's near.
"It's as if you forgot all the manners I have taught you. Its rude talking back to your superiors. I thought I raised you better." It mocks.
"Go away! You aren't my superior and you didn't raise me! You took me away from home just because of your self centered persona and I rather you leave me ALONE!"
As soon as I said that, the ground beneath my feet start trembling, the walls start rumbling and the ceiling shakes.
The vibrations of the place makes me stumble and trip making me fall on the ground. I quickly scramble to my feet trying to stand up again. Suddenly, I feel a crushing weight on my back preventing me from getting up. Even if it feels like there's a thousand cars, I struggle and start clawing the pavement in front of me. A foot stomps down on my back making me cry out in pain.
He sighs, finally making an appearance. A man, standing right in front of me. I can barely see his figure since it's very dark in these sewers. He's tall, maybe six feet or more. His dark, red glowing eyes is probably his most noticeably feature right now and If this place didn't scream out danger it is now, now that he's here.
I'm doomed.
"See dearie, this is what happens when you don't listen to me," he shakes his hand in disappointment.
"Your... gift can only be activate when you don't keep your emotions under control and darling, your glowing a very lovely bright blue."
I find the strength to look up at him, only to see his red glowing eyes sparkling down on me. He's smiling, a mad smile for a mad man, if you can even call him that. This man. No. This monster is evil through and through. When I run, he follows, if I hide, he finds and if I escape he will always catch me.
Trust me, I've tried. It didn't quite work well last time, considering that I'm here right now. He wasn't particularly fond of what I did. I got what I deserved he has said, little girls like you need to obey and be loyal he says. Of course, being the young stubborn girl I was, I never learned from my mistakes.
"You see if you go out there, in the outside world, no one will help you or save your poor little self. Instead they'll just pass by you not giving you a second glance even if you look like a helpless petit girl." He states, surprising me that he knew of my longing to go outside.
