It was a great 12:00AM in a Saturday, and I was staring at a simple sheet of paper, debating in my head whether I would call the number that was on it- (Y/N)'s number - in the middle of the night, or just go to sleep, to wake up in the morning to go in the café.

I sighed, and glanced at my phone that was on the end table, beside the bed I was laying down on a few minutes ago, daydreaming, wondering if (Y/N) and I would ever end up.. toge- Uhh, best friends... with such an awkward and shy side of me that she probably is annoyed with. I held my breath for a few seconds before exhaling and reaching to grab my cellphone.

Without me realizing it, another piece of paper was under it, but I ignored it and immediately dialed (Y/N)'s number that I memorized today.

Ring...

Ring...

"Hello?"

I gasped, jolting and jumping at (Y/N)'s voice that was unfamiliar for a second. "AH- U-Uhm, I mean, h-hey! It's.. i-it's me, Angel, y'know, from the café...?"

"Ah, Angel! What is it that you needed? You... called me at the middle of the night, you know?"

...To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to call you, and I don't know why I should. My fingers pressed on numbers- your number -because...

"I-I... wanted to hear your voice." I admitted shyly, hearing chuckling on the other side, I smiled a little.

"How cute." I heard her mumble. I blushed at this and started stuttering.

"U-Uhhm, so, how about this; let's... meet up in the café, at 2:00 in the afternoon. You up with that...?"

Wow, that took a lot of courage to say.

...i heard silence on the other side, until I heard her say, "Oh, of course! I had nothing to do, anyways... i-in what café, you say? There's a lot here in New York."

...I keep forgetting I live in New York.
The heart of USA.

"Oh, uh, the one we met up n? Y'know, Café Bitter-Yet-Sweet or... somethin' like that...?" I said quite casually, trying to recall the name of the café we met up in.

"Yeah, Café Bitter-Yet-Sweet was the name." (Y/N) chuckled, yawning a little aftfer. "Ahh... I have to sleep. It's, like, 1:00AM."

I jumped. 1:00AM?!
I checked my watch and saw it really was 1:00AM. 1:23AM, to be exact.

"Holy..." I mumbled, forgetting (Y/N) was still there. "...Shit."

"Hey, Angel! Language~." (Y/N) joked, giggling. I chuckled tiredly. "...I'm trying to stay awake, just for you."

I smiled a little at this. This is what it feels like, having... a friend, huh...?

"Haha, that's cute." I said without realizing it. "Staying up for me...? That's a first that anybody ever did for me..."

I heard silence on the other line for a few seconds, so I cracked the ice.

"Oh, uh, sorry. just... blurted thatout, haha... I'm really... sorry." I apologized, looking at the wall clock on my room. 1:30AM.

Silence. Again...?

"Uh, (Y/N)?"

...She's probably asleep.

"Are you still awake?"

...

Yeah, she's asleep.

...Let's call it a day and hit the sack. I laid myself down on the bed and hung up the call, not before saying "Good night".

"...I love you."
