Annabelle-
Once Harry's time was finished, I walked him back to his room. The walk there was quiet and nothing but our footsteps along with the guards' footsteps could be heard. I took this time to take in how Harry walked with such confidence, you would have never have guessed he was a mental patient. He was tall as well. I myself was five foot seven, a good height. I quite liked it.
I walked inside Harry's room along with him. He must think I am annoying or something because I'm always literally glued to his side but that was my job. I hope he understood that. It saddened me that Harry thought I wouldn't want to have a real conversation with him though.
He took a seat on his bed and I sat down on the chair across from him. " What are you thinking about?" I asked him and he looked up at me. " How I'm stuck here," He answered and sighed, rubbing his face.
What could I say? That this wasn't so bad? Well it was. I definitely would not want my freedom taken away and stay here. He stood up and started pacing around the room. " I can't take this and I have only been here one day," He said becoming frustrated, as he ran his hands through his hair. I felt like being here was making Harry mental.
" I have to get out of here, I'm not crazy," He mumbled to himself but he sounded kind of crazy to me. I stood up and walked over to him. I placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. " Harry, stay calm. We could talk about this," I said to him and he shook his head. " I have to leave," He answered, looking desperately into my eyes.
" I- I'm sorry," I stuttered. " You can't..."
He groaned and slammed the wall to his right. I jumped at the sound of the impact and the guards came running in. " It's alright, everything is under control," I assured them and they hesitantly left the room. I didn't want to make it worse for Harry and have them be on his back all the time. He seemed stressed out enough.
He let out another groan and flopped down on his bed. I took a seat on the edge of it and we sat there quietly. He had his face muffled into the pillow. " Harry it's okay," I quietly said to him and he didn't reply. I looked at the uniform he was wearing. It was a solid grey color but strangely it suited him. Shut up, Annabelle. You're here to help him not admire how he looks like in a uniform.
" Is there anything I can get you?" I whispered to him and he looked up from his pillow. He shook his head slowly.
" But thanks," He mumbled. I gave him a reassuring smile.
" If I can't handle a day here... how will I survive here for years?" He asked but to no one in particular. It was a question directed to himself I would think but I chose to answer him anyways. " You have me. We can be friends," I replied. " That'd be nice," He said giving me a warm smile and I returned the favor.
I took a look at the time and noticed I should be heading back to my office then going on home.
" I have to go now," I said, standing up. " But I'll see you tomorrow Harry"
" Are you going home?" He asked me and I nodded slowly. He looked up at me. " I wish I can go home," He said laying his back down and closing his eyes. Something about Harry made my heart ache. " If only you knew," He said.
I didn't know what he meant or have any clue at all what he was saying really. " Well bye Harry. I'll see you first thing tomorrow," I said heading for the door. " Bye Annabelle," He called back to me.
I left the room and took a deep sigh, once I was out. " He's that crazy?" One of the guards asked with a deep laugh. " No. Quite the opposite," I said in a hushed tone and walked away from the guards. That was incredibly rude.
I returned to my office and grabbed my things, before heading out. Ms. Stalin came into view and I gave her a friendly smile. " How was your day with Harry?" She asked me and I nodded. " It was decent," I answered. " He's still adjusting to the environment here"
She nodded, understanding Harry's condition. I waved her off and we left to go our separate ways. I got to the parking lot and took a seat in my car. Then, I placed the keys in and started it up, taking a look at the building.
' I wish I can go home' Harry's words shot through my mind. I took a deep breath and side.
