Lily's Journey

The door swung open at once.  A tall , black-haired women in a emerald-green dress-coat thingy stood there. She had a very stern face and my first thoughts were to not mess with her.

" The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said the guy I met at the boats

" Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here."

She pulled the door wide. The enterance hall was so big you could have fit the whole school in it. The flaming torches weren't like lightbulbs at all, the ceiling was so high it was higher than the auditorium, and an amazing, beautiful staircase that led to the upper floors.

We followed Mrs. Teacher Professer lady  across the flagged stone floor. I could hear over like a hundred voices from right to left--the rest of the school must already be here. Mrs. Professor Teacher lady showed us ( first years I think is what they called us), into a small empty chamber of the hall. We crowded in, standing rather closer than we usually would have done, peering about nervously.

" Welcome to Hogwarts," she began, " The start--of--term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the great hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sortin is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your houses will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room."

" The four houses are called Gryffindor, Huffelpuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule breaking will lose your house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to which ever house becomes yours."

" The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting. I shall rreturn when we are ready for you. Please wait quietly." said Mrs. Professor Teacher lady

I fixed my hair and checked my makeup in my phone, when I was suddenly interrupted by a blond haired boy who introduced himself as Draco Malfoy. Of course he came up to me, everyone comes up to me. All though he had no idea what I was holding and he was a little curious as to what it did. So I explained that it was a cell phone and that you could talk to people through it, by either texting or calling someone. I also showed him what snapchat was and that yo could take selfies with funny faces using it. The blond haired boy and I became partners and decided we would help each other out. After that I listened around and looked, when suddenly someone screamed and I looked up. Several silver ghosts glided into the small room and passed through students, so absorbed in the conversation that they didn't notice the wave of shivers passing through the us.

" Forgive and forget," a rather round one was saying, " we ought to give him a second chance."

" My dear Friar," responded a very regal looking ghost with a large ruff around his neck, " haven't we given Peeves all the chances he deserves? He gives us all a bad name and you know, he's not really even a ghost."

" What are you all doing here?" the Friar said.

The ghosts all vanished into the hall except for the ruffled one and the Friar, who had finally taken notice of the first years, but none of the students had a reply.

" New students!" said the ruffled one with a wide smile. " About to be sorted? Hope to see you in Huffelpuff. My old house, you know."

" Move along now," mrs. Professor Tecaher lady's voice cut through the chill in the room, leaving a diffrent sort of cold behind, " the Sorting Ceremony's about to start."
