--Chapter 1--
Scarlett wiped off her forehead for what felt like the hundredth time in the last hour. The weather for June was way to hot especially considering that the sun was starting to set. She paused from what she was doing and sat on her plush window seat while admiring the view of the sky change from orange to pink in the matter of minutes. As she sat there she thought of everything she wanted to accomplish this summer. Scarlett thought of herself as an independent strong girl ,but at the same time she was an extremely emotional person and hated to admit it. She always wore her heart on her sleeve for as long as she could remember and knew that it was a weakness of hers. She strived for excellence in everything she did whether it was academically or physically. Scarlett was more competitive than anyone she knew and had more pet peeves than probably anyone in this world. A ding on her white iPhone 4 pulled her out of her trance of making this summer better than the last one. She looked down to check who it was and saw it was her neighbor and new friend Cameron. That was strange she automatically thought, they were friends but really just started hanging out within the last few months. Recently Scarlett's best friend, Liz had revealed that her and Cameron were having a so called fling together and Scarlett knew exactly what that meant more drama than ever before. Cameron was a player, he used girls like his life depended on it and no matter how much Scarlett had tried to warn Liz to stay away it did not work. Liz was convinced she would change him and frankly Scarlett was tired of trying. Typing in her short password Scarlett's phone quickly unlocked and vibrated to life in her freshly tanned hands. She tapped on the message icon and Cameron's message appeared stating that their group was going to the movies tonight and they expected to see her there shortly. She sighed one of her many pet peeves was last minute plans. She absolutely hated having to rush around and scramble all over to get things together. She liked to have every little detail of her life organized and planned out down to the hour. However due to her new group of friends she started hanging out with it seemed they all purposely enjoyed watching her stress over being out of control and loved to mess up her daily planning. Scarlett figured since she had about three hours till the movie was suppose to begin she would hop in a quick shower. About twenty or so minutes later Scarlett's medium length chocolate brown hair was air drying in natural waves down her back. She grabbed her eyelash curler, mascara, navy eyeliner, and chap stick out of her makeup bag and walked over to her floor length mirror hanging from her wall. Carefully she applied the navy eyeliner around her sea blue eyes to bring them out more and make her seem less tired since she had barely been sleeping lately. Next she curled her black lashes and put on a little bit on mascara. She finished by coating her lips in her summer kiwi chap stick and placed everything back into her bag on her dresser. Scarlett then picked out her teal denim shorts and white v-neck shirt figuring it was cute but casual. She laced up her gray beaten up vans and took a look in the mirror satisfied with how she looked. Checking the time she saw she had an hour and a half before the movie started so she pulled out her worn down copy of the Great Gatsby and began reading it for the millionth time to help pass by the time until she would leave. A knock on the door brought her out of her trance. What time was it she thought , she looked over the clock on the oven and saw it was 6:45. Shit , Scarlett mumbled to herself the movie was starting at 7:10 and she didn't leave yet. She rushed over and opened the door and saw Liz, Kylie, and Becca all waiting for her. Quickly she opened the screen door and rushed outside. Sorry I lost track of time, Scarlett explained to her three friends. They all nodded and said not to worry about it as they piled into Scarlett's light blue jeep. Scarlett started the car up and drove smoothly down the road towards the theater. After a short twenty minutes they arrived outside the red and black theater. All of them got out of the car and started walking towards the big entrance chatting over nonsense. Scarlett began to zone out and walk a little slower than the rest of the girls and was the last one to walk through the door. She glanced up and was pretty sure her jaw was sitting on the floor due to the beautiful boy standing in front of her and next to the rest of the boys. She was paralyzed by his deep set hazel eyes that now we're locked with hers. Finally she looked down and away slightly embarrassed by her actions but she couldn't help but think who he was.
