I. Engagement

"Let me get this straight, since I was born, I have been engaged to some girl I don't even know?"

I rubbed my temple as I said those words "Actually, Ashe, she was born 2 years after you were so, you have been engaged since you were 2 years old, not since you were born." Replied my overly calm and doting dad, Elliote. "That doesn't matter!! What matters is that I am engaged!! You guys know how much I love my freedom and I'll have you know that by making me marry some spoiled brat is, practically, trapping me. Meaning, you are taking my freedom away." I screamed at them.

"That is not any way to talk to your parents, you ungrateful brat. And Franchesca is far from spoiled, much less a brat. Have you forgotten what I taught you about prejudice?" Snapped my strict and uptight mom, Vanessa.

"So, Franchesca is her name, huh? The girl A's marrying?" Chimed Janna, my 9-year-old sis "Woah, this is so exciting, not to mention romantic-- wait! By Franchesca, you don't mean Franchesca Diamond, do you?" Janna suddenly paled, drastically. She got a nod as an answer to her question, then, she fainted.

I scratched my head akwardly, not really knowing who Franchesca Diamond is. "Uhhh....... Is she someone important?" At my question, Dad chocked on the tea he was drinking, Mom pinched the bridge of her nose, and Janna was suddenly revived.

"What?! A, you really don't know who she is?! Woah, despite being the future CEO of Wonderitz International Group of Companies, you sure are stupid. FYI, Franchesca Diamond is the daughter of Zion Diamond and Victoria Asinyl. Sir Diamond is the president of Whitmore University & Hospitals and Diamond Inc. while Miss Asinyl is a world renowned Fashion designer for Doll@You, a famous Fashion brand." Janna said, proud that she was smarter than her big brother. 'So she's the daughter of people with great achievements. Big deal.' I thought.

"It's been 14 years since I last saw her, I wonder if Franchesca is doing well." I heard Mom mutter under her breath "Mom, you personally know her?" I ask and her reply shocked me "Yes, I know her and her mother however, her father, I never bothered to get to know because he was simply a waste of time, oxygen, and resources. Her mother and I have known each other since Middle School, she is my best friend and I am hers. Even until now we still keep in touch although, not as much as 10 years ago due to our busy schedules but our relationship is still fine, despite the years that passed."

"Alright, I think that is enough for today. Vanessa, we need to go if we want to be punctual in our meeting and Janna, is that your violin teacher I hear calling?" Dad said after a while "You're right, Elliote. Hurry now, Janna, you don't want to be late." Mom stood and led Janna out the dining room.

"Goodbye, Ashe. I'll see you again tonight." And with that, Mom was out of the room. Before Dad closed the door, he looked at me and smiled "Ashe, if you need to know anything about your fiancé, just ask Whitmore University for aspiring psychologists and psychiatrists or Whitmore Medical Asylum. Bye!" When he left, he also left a very confused me. 'What the fuck?' was my very corrigible answer.
