This is set at the end of Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts.

  Ginny POV

I watched Harry sitting beside Ron and Hermione in front of the fire place, his head in his hands. He missed Sirius. It had only been two days since we'd got back from the Ministry, so it was understandable that he was still in a lot of pain, but I hated to see him like this.

I got up from where I was sitting by the window and went over to them.

"Hi," I said, sitting down on the floor at Harry's feet. He lifted his head off his hands to look at me and smiled.

"Hi," he said, and before I could speak he added, "I'm okay."

"No you're not," I said. "Come on, let's have a game of exploding snap."

  "No, you play," he said.

"No, you're playing too," I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him onto the floor in front of me. We just stared into each others eyes for a moment before I realised how close our bodies were and quickly shuffled back.

Ron and Hermione joined us on the floor, and we were about to deal out the cards when Neville came over to play too.

After a few games, Harry seemed a lot happier and was laughing along with everyone else. I smiled to myself, but when he caught me staring at him, I quickly looked away.

  Harry POV

Ginny had come over a while ago and made me play exploding snap with her and there others, and I admit, I do feel a bit better now, but Sirius is still playing on my mind. The image of him falling through that curtain. The look upon his face. Knowing that I now had no parent or parental figure to help me deal with Voldemort.

"I hear Cho is dating Michael Corner now," announced Hermione, suddenly.

I shrugged and looked at Ginny. My ex and her ex were dating.

"Yeah," said Ginny, smiling. She glanced at me quickly.

"I never liked him," said Ron, as the pile of cards blew up.

"Of course you don't," said Hermione, rolling her eyes and laughing. "He is your little sister's ex and now your best friends ex's boyfriend."

"He better stay away from you, it'll only give me another reason to hate him," said Ron, looking at Hermione, who smiled shyly at Ron, before jumping up.

"I'm going to bed," she said. "Goodnight everyone."

"I'm going too," said Ron, as he, Ginny and Neville stood up. "Coming Harry?"

"No," I said. "I'll be up in a bit."

Hermione, Ron and Neville went up to their dormitories, and it took a second for me to notice that Ginny was still stood in front of me. I glanced around the common room and noticed we were the only ones there. It must be late, I thought.

"Are you alright, Harry?" Ginny asked.

  "Yes," I said. "No..."

Ginny sat down next to me and pulled me towards her. I fell into her embrace and felt my heart rate speed up. I'd always known I liked Ginny...but as what? I always thought they were sisterly feelings I held for her, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe I do like Ginny...no...I love her.

"Ginny..." I looked up at her and she smiled at me.

"Yes?" she asked, her beautiful smile never leaving her beautiful face.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked. She nodded, I took a deep breath. "Remember when we first met, when we were younger, I mean, and you had that crush on me?"

Ginny nodded again, giving me a questioning look.

"Why did you have a crush on me? Was it because I'm famous or was it me you liked?" I asked. Ginny looked taken aback. Whatever she expected, it wasn't that.

She thought for a moment, then said, "When Ron came home for the summer after his first year here with you, I questioned him about you a lot, yes, that was because you were famous. I kept thinking of more questions to ask and Ron answered them all. He told me about how kind you are, and how you always put others before yourself, and how you don't always enjoy people knowing who you are, that you'd rather not be famous sometimes. And it was all true. I found that out when I met you.

"I was nervous around you at first because I was this shy little girl and you'd done so much already. I got to know you during my first year here, and you saved me from Tom Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets. Even though it had been me doing all those terrible things and not meaning to, you weren't mad at me and your tried to cover for me in front of the teachers. That's when I knew that it wasn't a crush on some famous guy that went to my school and was best friends with my brother, but just on you. Harry Potter. The guy in the year above me at school who only thought of me as a sister.

  "Why did you ask?"

"Just wondered," I shrugged, as I tried to take it all in.

  Ginny POV

Why was Harry asking me this? I am really confused right now, but I guess I just have to go with it.

"When did you give up on me?" asked Harry, after a few minutes silence as he processed what I said.

  "What?" I asked. "Uh..."

"Wait," said Harry, watching me carefully. "Have you given up on me?"

"Uh..." I said again, feeling my cheeks burning.

"I guessed you had because you've cooled off around me, but, have you?" asked Harry.

Oh no! What do I say? I can't lie to him, but he might hate me if I tell him the truth.

I sat there in silence, just looking at him, hoping he'd change the subject quickly. He didn't...

  "Ginny?"

"Fine, Harry, fine," I said. "You want to know? Fine, but just remember you asked. No, I've never actually given up on you, alright? I still like you, and not because you're famous, but just for you."

Harry wrapped his arms around my waist and leaned towards me, pressing his soft lips against mine. I kissed back and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me.

We soon pulled away and rested out foreheads against each others, trying to catch our breath.

"I love you Ginny," said Harry, "and I'm so sorry it took me so long to realise it."

"I love you too," I said, smiling as he pressed his lips against mine once more.
