Sniffing I rubbed my nose as I headed back to my room. My room was a small looking white room. There was my bed with the heart monitor I was supposed to be hooked up to. Also an IV drip but I managed to turn it off and write in the doctor’s book that I didn't need one.
I was going to die... there was no use in staying here. This place only prolonged my death. I have been here for 5 months now, doing the same thing, never going anywhere, never doing anything. I have walked nearly every inch of this hospital and knew it like the back of my hand.
I was passing a room when I heard voices. I stopped by the slightly ajar door to listen, “I heard that there has been another vampire killing near here." one man’s voice whispered making me confused.
Vampire? Vampires aren't real.
"Yah. A vampire is targeting women that go to this night club." another man's voice said sounding slightly annoyed.
There was a moment of silence, "so when are you going to tell me my test results doctor?” the first voice said in a joking manner.
There was a sigh, "you have gotten too old to donate blood. Your body systems are slowing down and it would kill you if you donated another pint." the doctor said with a soft voice.
There was another silence, "how about you go to sleep. We can talk more in the morning." the doctor said and I heard his footsteps toward the door.
I quickly walked around the corner and waited for the door opened. The doctor who walked out looked around his 30's with a trimmed mustache and beard. He looked handsome but I was more curious about why they spoke of vampires like they were real.
He walked down the hall and I followed him. He set the board on the nurse’s desk and continued on. I followed him to the doctor’s lounge and he walked to the coffee machine.
"Is it true?”
"Jesus!” he cussed jumping and turned to me, "how long have you been there?" he asked sounding worried.
I looked down, "from down the hall... I overheard you and wanted to know if it was true. .. What you said about vampires?" Looking up at him I hoped it was.
His eyes widened, "you shouldn't have heard that." he told me and I smiled sadly.
"I won't go running to the police or something. I just wanted to see if they were real." he watched me for a moment.
"Does if frighten you to think there are?" he asked and I shook my head, "why not?" He questioned with narrow eyes.
Shrugging I replied, "Because I seem them like a lion sees deer. She would only kill a deer for the pride to eat."
He stared at me for a moment, "you are a strange child... what room are you in?" he wondered.
Grabbing my arm I shrugged, "A hallway away from here."
He began filling his coffee, "what's your name?"
"Hope Johnson.”
He stopped all movements for a moment before he stirred his coffee, "You’re the terminally ill patient that is donating all her organs?”
Nodding I rolled on my heels, "yep... hey doc I’m getting tired so do you think you could answer my question now?"
He turned to me sipping his coffee, "what question?" I have him a look and he smiled. He walked towards me and pats my head, "yes vampires are real." He told me with a slight teasing manner.
Smiling I questioned, "Are you one?"
He chuckled messing up my hair, "I thought it was only one question."
