"What?" Minako, my ballet teacher questions quietly, not sure if she heard me correctly. "Viktor Nikiforov? That can't right!"
Mari nods her head, "Yep. Its right here in the flesh. Literally."
Everyone is quiet for a second, then Mari smirks at me and says a little too loudly for my liking, "Yuuri, you're blushing."
"No I am not!" I scream and run upstairs to my room, very embarrassed. I stare at the posters of Viktor on the wall. "My soulmate..." I say to myself quietly. "Viktor Nikiforov."
I plop down on the bed and shove my face into my pillow. "Its a drean come true." I fell asleep there, as it was already past midnight, and nobody comes to talk to me. Maybe its because Mari kept everyone away from me because she knew I would want to be alone. And I did. She has always known how I felt about things and has always been an astounding sister.
I wake up hours later and its only ten in the morning. All of the guests have gone home and our bathhouse inn is closed today so its empty. Compared to last night, the house seems utterly deserted. I decide to go to Ice Castle to cool my head, literally and figuratively.
When I arrive, Yuuko is at the front counter. She was my childhood friend who I used to practice skating with here when we were children, but she manages the place now.
"Yuuri, hi!" She greets warmly and walks around the counter to give me a hug. Yuuko was at the party last night so I'm kind of embarrased to for her to see me here now.
She lets go of me, though I didn't want her embrace to end because I did not want her to look at me. "So... how do you feel? About Viktor Nikiforov being your soulmate?"
I scratch the back of my head and look away. "I don't really know how to feel about it, honestly. I've always looked up to him as an idol... but a soulmate? I'm not sure."
She smiles at me. "Once you get to know him as a person instead of an idol, you're going to love him."
"How can you be sure about that?" I ask.
"Are you an idiot?" She asks playfully. "He's your soulmate! Of course you're going to love him! Its meant to be, after all."
"That is true." I smile to myself. "I wonder though, how he's feeling about this, seeing the name of your soulmate is a person you don't know."
"Don't think about it too much." She reassures as she pats me on the back and walks back behind the counter. "Now, did you come here to skate or not?"
After getting a pair of skate from Yuuko, the two of us head towards the ice. "Yuuko... you see, there's something I wanted to show you." Its Viktor Nikiforov's free skate to "Stay Close To Me", which he performed at the Sochi Grand Prix Final.
I perfectly replicate this free skate before Yuuko. When I finish, she is at a loss for words. She looks as of she is about to speak a few moments later, but her three daughters, Axel, Lutz, and Loop, interrupt. "Yuuri, that was amazing!" Lutz complements. "Good thing we recorded it from the beginning."
"Oh you recorded it?" Yuuko questions.
Then Axel says something that shocks me. "Yep, just uploaded it!"
"You shouldn't have done that without permission from Yuuri first!" Yuuko scolds the three of them. She then turns to me to apologize. "I'm sorry, Yuuri. I didn't think they would do something like that."
At that moment, my phone buzzed with a notification. I picked it up and that was when I saw it. "That got popular fast." I say to nobody in particular.
The video had gone viral almost as fast as light, and Viktor Nikiforov himself was just about to see it.
"What is this all about?" I ask myself as I open a text. "Viktor you have to see this!" Was what it read, with a link attached. I opened it to reveal a video. It is someone skating the same free skate I did in the Sochi Grand Prix Final. It was amazing! He got every detail down!
This guy looks familiar. I glance at the title od the video, which reads "Yuuri Katsuki Perfectly Replicates Viktor Nikiforov's free skate".
"Wait a second..." I take a look at my hand and see the name once again. Yuuri Katsuki. "I knew it sounded familiar! Its the same guy from the party after last year's Grand Prix Final! He's my soulmate?"
This news makes me extremely happy. How did I not recognize his name before? Wait a second... I have to get to Japan! After all, this is my soulmate we're talking about.
I just can't believe its him.
