I woke up again to one of the most unpleasant sensations. The kitchen window had beams of bight summer light shining through them and right onto my face. For a second I was really confused why i was on the floor but I glanced over at the phone laying a few feet away from me and instantly it all came back.
Monica.
Hospital.
Danger.
I bolted up, grabbed my wallet, car keys and shoes so I could get to the hospital to go see if Monica was okay.
Monica had to be okay.
I couldn't live without her.
I would die.
"Get out of the way, asshole!" A very aggravated very big man was behind me with his window down screaming and honking excessively while my car stood at a stop in front of a green light. I pressed on the gas to make his noisy ranting stop and because I had no idea how long I'd been at the stop. The silence was killing me. Every time I'd been in this car it'd been with Monica and she'd be singing or chatting with me.
