Reflection

The year is coming to a close,

And you realise you have a warm fuzzy feeling rising up from your toes,

As things slow down you think it's time for some reflection,

Before life inevitably rushes off to its next section.

Without wanting to boast to a crowd,

You realise you're actually quite proud,

Although you've suffered stress, been exhausted, drained,

You revel in your achievements, how much you've gained.

Dwelling on the past is something we're often not advised to do,

But opportunities to relish our successes are so few,

It's only when the bustle has died that you see,

That breezing through life hasn't always come so easily.

Yes, you had support, a good start,

But you kept yourself on the straight and narrow, remained pure of heart,

Tried your best, worked hard,

Given cheating and crime little regard.

Because life so often rolls on, runs away, always in a rush,

We're expected to keep our triumphs quiet, hush,

Yet you're proud of the goals you've reached, the friends you've made,

And upon reflection, you're gonna make sure this winning streak doesn't fade.
