Everything was silent in the hall. Calliope hadn't left her room in 2 weeks. Dallas tried to talk to her, but she just ignored him. The other kids had moved into the hall as well. They took over the extra rooms. Sawyer hadn't woken up yet. Lisbeth sat and talked with him all the time. "I want to help." Jess whispered to Payton. Payton looked at her with a confused look. "How?" Payton really did like Jess, but he felt that she was a little crazy. "I don't know, I just don't like all the negative energy." Jess shrugged. Dallas walked out of his room. He looked like he hadn't slept at all. He walked over to Calliope's door and knocked. Silence. "Cal, please let me in." Dallas whimpered. Silence. Dallas slid down onto the floor next to the door.

Calliope lay in her bed. She stared at the mess her room had become. She had broken almost everything she had. Everything except her photo. Calliope had a picture of her parents, Sawyer, and her all smiling. It was her prized possession. Calliope sighed. She stood up and paced. She looked at her hands. They were covered in cuts and burns. She didn't know what to do with herself. She walked into her bathroom. She stripped down and looked in the mirror. Her eyes were bloodshot. She looked at all the bruises that were up and down her body. The burns she inflicted. Sawyer was her rock. He helped her control her abilities. She turned on her shower and let the hot water run down her back. She stared at her feet. She felt tears well up in her eyes. She quickly washed her self and stepped out. She looked in the mirror again. Her reflection moved. You're pathetic. Calliope's reflection looked at her with disgust. You're brother is dying. And you are just sitting here. The reflection snickered before continuing, You're the reason your parents died, and now Sawyer will die too. Calliope felt rage fill her heart and she smashed the mirror. Blood gushed from her hand. Calliope just stared at it. She caught a glimpse of herself in the shards and was shocked. "I'm a monster" Calliope whispered to herself. She got dressed slowly. She continued to whisper to herself. "I have to save him." She took a deep breath and opened the door.

All talking in the room ceased. Calliope opened her door and looked around. Dallas quickly stood up and tried to talk to her. "Calliope I don't even-" Dallas tried to spit out everything at once. Calliope looked at him and he paused. She turned away and walked towards Sawyers room. She opened the door. She walked in and pulled a chair next to his bed. He looked so peaceful. Calliope smiled. She pulled the picture of them out of her pocket. "I brought this." She whispered and set it down on the table next to him. "Sawyer. I can't do this." Calliope gasped out. "You're my rock, you're the one that told me it would be okay." Calliope grabbed his hand. "Sawyer, I can't stay in control without you. You kept the balance." She grabbed his hand and felt herself disconnect. She sat in silence, running her fingers through his hair.

Amelia walked out of her room. She was going to see Sawyer like she did every day. She noticed something different. Everyone was on edge. She walked towards Sawyers room and opened it. "Hey Sawyer, I brought some new books to read." Amelia smiled and looked at Sawyer. "Oh! Calliope! You left your room!" Amelia greeted her. Calliope didn't say anything. "Calliope?" Amelia made a move to tap her shoulder. Calliope sat up. She glared at Amelia. Amelia gasped. "You're eyes! They're red. Are you okay?" Amelia backed up. "I'm perfectly fine Amelia."  Calliope smirked. "Calliope are you sure? You don't sound like yourself." Amelia's back hit the wall and she looked at Calliope. Her eyes were the color of fire. They flickered between red and orange. Calliope twitched. "I said I'm fine." Calliope snapped and opened the door to the hall. She smiled and walked towards everyone else. Her eyes still flickered red. "Take a picture it'll last longer." She chuckled and sat at the couch on the far end of the room. Oliver locked eyes with her and she winked. All the color drained from his face when he noticed the color. He grabbed Lisbeth and pulled her into his room. "Lisbeth. It's happening again." Oliver spoke softly. "What are you talking about Oliver?" Lisbeth looked at his face and saw the fear in his eyes.  Oliver took a deep breath. "Lisbeth. Do you remember when we first got here?"

Oliver woke up in a dark room. He was cold and it reeked of disinfectant. As he tried to stand up, but he was cuffed to his seat. The bright lights turned on. The electricity buzzed.  He looked around and saw that there were 4 other kids in hospital gowns. He looked down to see himself in one too. The image of his parents flashed in his eyes and he flinched. He looked at each kid. The one closest to him was mumbling a name of sorts. He was shaking. Next to him was a girl. She had curly red hair and she was rocking back and forth. He saw a small boy, younger than him looking around. He had blood under his fingernails. He picked at his hands. Then he saw an older boy. He was staring at the girl next to him. He was whispering to her and she was nodding. Her eyes glowed a bright red. The older boy seemed to be calming her down. She took a deep breath and her eyes flickered. She closed her eyes and when she reopened them, they were a hazel. "Hello children." A young woman's voice came on over the speaker. "I know you have many questions but I can only say this." she paused. "Welcome to your new home."  The voice laughed and the cuffed opened and the kids got up. "We have to do a quick medical check up before you can be taken to your rooms." The speaker clicked. A couple of doctors walked through the doors. Oliver couldn't take his eyes off of the girl. A man walked towards her. "I need to check for any preexisting injuries." He moved to touch her back. Oliver watched as she pushed him away. "Look kid, I don't have time for this." He grabbed her arm and started to feel her back. Her eyes switched from hazel to red. She hit the doctor in the arm. He cursed and reeled his hand back and slapped her. She froze. The older boy made a move towards her. She screamed and the doctors notepad caught fire. "Calliope calm down."  Calliope snapped to look at the boy. "Focus on something else. Focus on water." The boy spoke slowly. Her eyes flickered from red to blue. "Focus on the cold. The rain." The boy kept talking. She took a deep breath and looked back at the notepad. She put the fire out with what Oliver assumed was water in the air. The girl's eyes flickered back to hazel.

Lisbeth gasped. "I remember now." Oliver nodded. "Calliope couldn't balance all of her abilities at once. Sawyer helped her." Lisbeth realized what was happening. "Without Sawyer, Calliope is out of balance. She is resorting to her old personas." Oliver continued. "She has personalities for each ability. A give away is her eyes. She can only use one ability at once, and since her eyes are red..." Lisbeth looked up, "She's stuck on fire." she cursed under her breath. "That also means we have to deal with this version of her." Oliver nodded. "But how do we get her to use something else?" Lisbeth wondered. "Calliope has split personality disorder, so we can't fix it, we just have to put her back in balance. As of right now, we just have to deal with it." Oliver got up and walked out. Lisbeth took a deep breath and followed.
