Lexa was sitting in the library studying for her test that was the next day when Anya plopped herself across the table from her and said,
"Hey, you going to prom on Saturday?"
Lexa looked at her cousin and pushed her glasses up her nose.
"I don't have time to go to prom, Anya. I need to focus, it's senior year."
"Exactly! It's senior year! You're only gonna have one senior prom in your life and you're missing it because you have to study? That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard."
Lexa glared at her cousin.
"I'm not going, and that's final. Besides no one would even want to go with me anyways." Lexa murmured, starting to feel quite insecure.
Anya softened at the words of her slightly younger cousin.
"You don't have to go with anybody. You can go alone and just have a good time with your friends. Me and Lincoln will be there..." Anya hoped that by mentioning Lincoln, Lexa would be more open to the idea.
"Yeah, but you are both going with your dates."
Both Lincoln and Anya already had dates to their senior prom. Lincoln was going with Octavia and Anya with Bellamy.
"At least think about going? For me?" Anya asked desperately. She really wanted her cousin to get out of her shell and have fun.
"I'll think about it." Lexa mumbled.

It was Saturday afternoon and Lexa was staring down at her bed where Anya had laid a long green dress.

"Lexa, just try it on

"Lexa, just try it on."
"No."
"Why not?" Anya pleaded.
"Because, if I go to prom without a date, I'll just make a fool out of myself."
"That's not true." Anya argued. With a softer tone she asked, "Lexa, please just come to this dance. I'd really appreciate it if you would."
Lexa sighed. She couldn't refuse her cousin when she asked her like that. Lexa huffed a reply as she made her way to change into the dress, "Fine. I'll put the dumb dress on and go to the stupid dance."
Anya squealed as her cousin shut the bathroom door.

----------------------

It had been an hour into the dance and the DJ had just put on a slow song. Bellamy took Anya to the dance floor and same with Lincoln and Octavia. Seeing as Lexa was alone and had no one to dance with, she went and sat down at on of the few tables. After about 30 seconds of the song she heard a familiar voice,
"Lexa?"
Lexa turned her head and saw the one and only Clarke Griffin. She was wearing a blue dress that complimented her eyes beautifully and her hair had been styled to perfection.

Not only was Clarke the most popular and nicest girls, she also happened to be Lexa's crush since the seventh grade

Not only was Clarke the most popular and nicest girls, she also happened to be Lexa's crush since the seventh grade.
Lexa barely got the words out of her mouth but she managed a response, "Hey Clarke."
"Why aren't you dancing?" Clarke furrowed her eyebrows in concern.
"Um, I don't have a date..." Lexa said embarrassingly. Clarke smiled a little down at Lexa as she held out her hand.
"Would you like to dance with me?" Clarke asked.
"What about your date?"
Clarke let out a laugh and Lexa thought it was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.
"I came alone. Now come dance with me, Lex."
Lexa wasn't sure what surprised her more, the fact that Clarke didn't have a date, or the nickname Clarke had called her. But either way Lexa was rendered speechless and all she could do was take Clarke's extended hand and follow her to the dance floor.
Lexa put her hands on Clarke's waist as she found Clarke's hands were in her shoulders. They were swaying back and forth to the beat of the song.
"I'm surprised you came tonight." Clarke whispered in her partner's ear. "But I'm glad you did."
Lexa felt shivers go down her back when Clarke's warm breath reached her ear.
"I'm glad I came too." Lexa managed to breathe out.
A few moments passed and Clarke spoke again, "I like you too, you know?"
Lexa's eyes widened. Her crush since seventh grade knew that she liked her.
"Wh-Why didn't you say anything before?" Lexa sputtered out.
"Well, whenever I tried having a conversation with you, you barely said anything, but I found quite adorable. I know that you're quite shy, but I found that endearing. Plus the fact that you're crazy smart and spend most of your time in the library leaving me not a lot of time to actually talk you and—"
Lexa cut off Clarke's rambling and pressed their lips together. Clarke was the one to pull away after a few seconds. The two girls smiled at each other, until Clarke's smile turned into a smirk as she asked, "I don't approve of underage drinking, Lex."
Lexa had a puzzled look on her face, which Clarke thought was the cutest thing ever. "Clarke, what are you talking about?"
"Well, first you decide to come to prom in the first place, and then you're the one who initiated the kiss. You had to have had some liquid courage." Clarke winked. Lexa threw her head back and laughed.
"Oh shut up." Lexa said as she brought their lips together for another kiss.

Lexa was positive she was going to receive at least a week's worth of teasing from both Anya and Lincoln, but it was totally worth it.
