It had (in total) taken us 2 hours to ready ourselves for the New Years party. Addison kept saying she was glad that it took us so long because the number one rule of partying is to never show up to early.
All five of us drove in with Addison's Mercedes, turning the music up and yelling out the window the whole way there.
"Let's go!" Lauren yelled over the loud pounding of music that could be heard all the way outside. We had parked in the giant field across from the house that was filled with hundreds of other cars spaced out among ours.
"So what are we doing tonight, splitting up or staying together?" Lauren got out of the car swiftly and readjusted her red bow."I say split, unless one of us doesn't want to," Addison shrugged and started walking to the giant house in the middle of the col-de-sac.
All five of us started walking through the large field over to the house, Sarah pulling up her gown and all of us laughing hard. The adrenaline that we all felt for this party had built up over our boring winter break, and now it was time to let it loose.
"If I don't see you getting a New Years kiss, Ali, I swear I will force Ashton to kiss you." Ashton was Addison's boyfriend of exactly one month and 4 days. She loved to remind us of it, Addison shook her head and chuckled at me. Knowing Addison, I was pretty sure she wasn't joking.
We walked into the large house, taking only a moment to actually admire it. It had thick columns running through it that were shiny and smooth and just waiting for somebody to drunkenly smash into them.Lauren grabbed Addison's hand and pulled her away when she saw Brendon at the top of the stairwell with two drinks in glass cups. I smiled, remembering the lame parties we went to where we would drink only a little and still feel really drunk.
"I see Ben by beer pong! You two coming?" Cali started to walk off, Sarah trailing behind her. I decided that I would be much better off just going off on my own. My rule for parties was to arrive with different people than you leave with.
I walked over to the bar which was right next to the door and was nearly overflowing with drunk partygoers who didn't really have anything better to do. I strutted over to an empty barstool next to a girl with no shoes and a guy that had a really dark aura and perfect hair.
I motioned for the waitress who was in a skimpy "2017" bra and booty short which seemed pretty pointless because it was horrendously cold outside. She winked at another guy sitting at the bar who was shirtless and yelling for more beer and then rolled her eyes at me as she strutted over.
"The hell do you want?" She clicked her nails on the counter and stared me dead in the eye.
"Shut up and get her what she wants. That's your job right?" The guy that was slouching over in the stool next to me growled. He looked at her defiantly as she rolled her eyes at him just the same as she did with me and waited for my order.
"I'll have whatever." I shrugged her off and turned over to the guy next to me."That was a bit rude, don't you think?" I pursed my lips as the- oh my god he was hot.
"No. She's been drinking some shit behind the counter all night, so she won't even remember it." He shook his head and turned back around to his iPhone and took a swig of some dark looking ale.
"Figures," I shrugged and waited for the slutty waitress to come back with... whatever she thought fitting for me. I felt slightly awkward just sitting with nothing to do but play with my hands, so I decided to try and talk to the girl sitting next to me who looked somewhat sober.
"So has your day been?" I awkwardly laughed, embarrassed that I had said something so stupid. Could I not communicate with other people properly?
"Who the fuck are you?" She gave me a judging look and pressed her eyebrows down while slowly scooting her stool away from me.
