"Ms.Holmes, I'm glad to see you awake." The doctor in a beat up lab coat addressed me.

"As you know mission Clean Freak failed. 3 of the 7 were killed. You save the other 3s lives ms.Holmes. You did great work out there. Unfortunately if you'll lift your blankets, you lost most of your leg. You have multiple fractures in your other leg and in your ribs, you have bruises and cuts on most of your body. We will be sending you to the private rehabilitation unit in South Carolina today." She explained a brief over view of what had happened but was careful not to start a flashback for me. I hadn't dared to lift the blankets. I had seen missing limbs far to many times and I did not want to see it on me.

"Will I still be able to serve?" I asked my tone as cold as could be.

"That depends on how well your rehabilitation goes Miss," by the look on her face my chances weren't in my favor.

"We have already collected your things on the plane. You will be leaving in 10 minutes. I will be on the plane with you to make sure you are stable. The others from the mission are all separated for the time being at different facilities to avoid to much conflict over the mission."

"Conflict?! They were my brothers and sisters on that mission! We may not have been by blood but by heart we are and how dare you say we would have conflict. It was none of our fault the mission went south and we know that."I yelled angrily while attempting to sit up.

"Miss please calm down. We don't want you to hurt yourself. It was orders." She said taken aback by my sudden fit of rage.

I huffed and leaned back onto the old makeshift hospital bed.

"I'm going to lift you into a wheelchair chair to take you to the bed on the plane okay?" She asked warily as if I was a wild dog about to pounce at any second. I just  nodded.

She walked toward me and gently pulled back the blankets. I had refused to look until now.

I slowly brought my eyes down to the one thing that is going to come between my home in the base and the reality of my country.

What I saw was enough to make a surgeon gag. Where I once had a full leg was now just a stub a few inches away from my hip, wrapped in a mountain gauze that was probably once white but now stained with blood.

I felt tears well up in my eyes. I wouldn't dare cry. No, I wouldn't cry that is selfish and my whole life I've been taught to be as selfless as possible. People have lost their live doing what we do. I'm lucky to only have this as my biggest injury.

I nodded as for her to continue on.

She pulled my remaining leg over while carefully lifting my butt so that my stub wouldn't drag on the bed. She lifted me up and set me down in my temporary transportation.

"Ready to go?" She asked with a genuine smile.

"No this is my home and it always will be, but if I want to come back I need to go." I whispered more to my self than to her. But she heard me and just offered me a sympathetic smile.

And we were off to a new place, a new, life, and a new me.
