A meeting. It was just supposed to be a regular meeting. If only I had known that it would be anything but regular. I would've avoided the thing. Should have, could have, would have. They're just meaningless words.
I wasn't feeling great that day. It had been one of those days where every little thing set me off. I knew I needed to go vent my emotions, but before I got a chance, I was summoned. Being summoned to a meeting isn't an honor; it's a curse. Something was up, and I was somehow in the middle of it.
I arrived in the meeting room and saw that Malfoy was in there. Red flag. We were never summoned at the same time. I cautiously walked over to where Malfoy was standing in the middle of the room. He turned and saw me, and I could just see the color drain from his face. He knew something had to be up as well.
We looked up as the Dark Lord swept into the room. I bowed, knowing that Malfoy was doing the same thing next to me. I looked up, my face a blank mask. I knew better than showing my emotions. That was basically the same as signing your death warrant. I met the Dark Lord's eyes, matching his cool stare.
“My lord.” My voice matched the emotion evident on my face. I really did not want to be there. He smirked at me, as it he knew what I was thinking and feeling.
“Adrianna. Draco. I am in need of your services.” I mentally sighed. I didn't want to do this. It's not like I had a choice in this though.
“What is it?” I asked, wary of his motives.
“Well, mostly I need Draco. You see, it's time for your training exercises, Adrianna.”
“What does Malfoy have to do with that?” I asked. He smirked.
“He is going to be the target practice.” He replied. My blood ran cold. He couldn't be asking me to do this. I glanced at Malfoy and I saw my fear mirrored in his eyes.
“My lord, please. Don't ask me to do this.” I pleaded. He shook his head..
“Begging? How pathetic, Adrianna. Do as I say, or risk the consequences.” I flinched. He was threatening my sister. I nodded reluctantly. Malfoy and I stepped back and faced each other.
“Draco, pull out your wand. You know what to do.” The Dark Lord commanded. Malfoy obeyed, his hand slightly shaking.
“My goal is to try and kill her. I cannot show mercy or weakness. She is going to be giving it her all. I understand, my lord.” Malfoy's voice was quiet. This shouldn't be happening,
“Good. Adrianna, don't hold back.” I nodded, not trusting my voice.
“Good. You may begin.” I barely heard the Dark Lord's voice as Malfoy started shooting curses at me. I had to work to avoid them. We both knew the consequences if this got out of hand. But we also knew that there would be worse consequences if we disobeyed him. Our hands were tied in this matter.
I dodged a curse, pulling out my daggers and throwing one of them. It missed Malfoy's head by an inch. He recovered quickly and shot another curse at me I turned to avoid it, but I reacted a little late and the curse grazed the side of my body. I winced slightly, but knew to keep the rest of my emotions to myself. In here, emotions were a liability.
I was working hard to both dodge the attacks and keep my emotions in check. Both were hard to do, but I was managing, barely. I threw another dagger and it landed in Malfoy's left arm. I heard him groan quietly and pull it out, throwing the blood-stained blade on the floor. I silently apologized, knowing that I was going to regret that later. Right now, though, survival was the goal.
Malfoy looked up at me and underneath the strong front he was putting up I could see the pain he was going through. He didn't like this any more than I did. He raised his wand and shot a powerful curse. I didn't have time to react before the curse hit me full on, throwing me back against the opposite wall. I let out a groan, the pain from the curse spreading through my body. I heard footsteps as Malfoy walked over and stood over me. I could vaguely hear the Dark Lord's voice.
“Finish her off, Draco! This is your chance!” Malfoy raised his wand, aiming at my face. I knew that the end was near. I was not going to give up, though. I was much too stubborn. I had no other option. I closed my eyes and did the one thing I hated to do: I lost control. I felt my powers go into overdrive, and I ignored the little voice in the back of my mind warning me not to do this.
One thing that is important to know is that when I lost control, it's different from when Arianna loses control. When she loses control, her magic is sent out in massive shock-waves, destroying everything and hurting everyone in range. It lasts until she is drained of energy or I try to stop her. However, I have no magic to use. What happens to me, according to her, is that I will go into overdrive. My powers take control, and I become this machine, basically. I'll go around just attacking everything and everyone in sight. I even starting hurt myself once, when Ari tried to restrain me. It's not pretty to watch, I've been told.
I felt my powers building up as I felt myself losing consciousness. I always black out when I lose control; so does Arianna. The last thing I saw as I went under was Malfoy's face. It looked frightened.
“I'm sorry.” I thought as I surrendered to the darkness.
