Her alarm clock went off. She rolled over and hit the snooze button, groaning. It had been a long weekend, and she wasn't ready to go back to school. She got out of bed, her muscles aching, and picked up her phone, sitting on it's charger on her bedside table. Three new messages.
Autumn: hey babe, gonna be late today. Lucas is sick and we're taking him to the er
Autumn: nevermind, Lucas is good. Want me to pick you up?
Autumn: okay i'll go for it anyway. Be ready by 7 or i'm leaving without youShe checked the time. 6:30. That sould be enough time. She went into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, taking her hair out of the tight french braid she had slept in last night. Waves of silver fell down to her shoulders. She grabbed her make up bag and went back to her room.
There, she quickly pulled on light grey skinny jeans and a black sweater. Then she put her make up bag in her backpack and went to wait outside.Autumn was just pulling up in her truck as she was walking out of the door. She threw her bag in the bed and got in.
"How did you sleep?" Autumn looked over at her and smiled, her eyes heavy, her black hair up in an unforgiving bundle of hairties.
"Better than you apparently. What happened?"
"He had a stomach virus is all, my parents freaked out again." She said, rolling her eyes. They were silent for a while, the radio off. Neither of them knew what to say to lighten the mood.
"Hey Devon?" Autumn turned to her at a stop sign.
"Yeah?"
"You wanna skip today?" She said it softly, her voice slighty wavering.
Devon smiled and gave Autumn a kiss on the cheek.
"All you had to do was ask."
