Her eyes shimmered like golden sunlight; her hair gleamed like the pond after a summer rain. Millie's heart shone through on even the most bitter of days, and she could always put a smile on my face. She used to shoot smiles at me from across the room, and I swore I saw a cartoonish sparkle every single time. I would smirk back at her, then return to my schoolwork, biting my lip. She always seemed to have this effect on me.
Butterflies swarmed my stomach the very first time she touched me. It had just been a comforting squeeze on my hand, but sparks flew between us.
Her eyes met mine, and I saw her start to lean forward. The butterflies got worse. This was going to be my first kiss, with a girl, at least. I held my breath with anticipation. 3, 2, 2 1/2, 1...
