Evelyn's pov
As I looked into his eyes, I realized this was more than just a crush. It was something more and that scares me.
His name is Elliot Jackson and he is a senior in college. Did I mention that he's also my neighbor; living only one street over?
Elliot has been a really close family friend for years, but we barely spoke. He intimidated me at first therefore I tried avoiding talking to him.
But this summer, my parents are gone on vacation for one month just traveling Europe for their 20th anniversary.
My brothers are wild and love to have bonfires at our house specially that the parents are gone.
Elliot is Alex's best friend and he basically spent this whole summer at my house but I never held a meaningful conversation with him until this one late bonfire night.

"Evelyn, Why didn't you tell me you guys are having a bonfire tonight? " asked Lina
I looked at her confused, "what are you talking about Lina"
She picked her phone from her back pocket and showed me a group text, it said from "Alex".
I continued reading still confused
The text read " bonfire at my house tonight. Starts at 8. Text me if you need the address."
I looked at my friend frustrated, and held up one finger to her indicating to wait a second
"hello?" Answered my older brother
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE BONFIRE. YOU ALWAYS DO THIS." I yelled back
"I'm the oldest. I don't have to ask you for your permission ?" He answered sarcastically
" ok I'm not cleaning afterwards though." And I hung up
Lina is still standing there laughing at the phone call that just happened
" I guess we have a bonfire to get ready for"
