(My apologies for any mistakes i may have made. This is my first story and i thought it would be fun to try writing. No hate please 😊 enjoy?)

I rolled over in bed and looked through the window. "What time is it..." i groaned. I grabbed my phone "12:32" i got up and winced in pain. My back and shoulder hurt horribly. I head a pound on my door "oh don't worry mom, i'm alive" my door swung open. My mother stood there with a wide grin on her face. "Breakfast!" her long black hair glistened in what light there was shining through the curtains. I stuffed my head in my blankets and my mother growled as she walked over to the curtains. She ripped them open "wakey wakey time to wake up. Wakey wakey tim-"

"Mother!"

She skipped out all happy giggly. I grabbed at my shoulder as i got out of bed. "Stupid badminton"

In case you don't already know, my name is Alana. Alana stone. I'm 16 and i play lots of badminton. I'm actually pretty good at it if i put my mind into it. I live in new york with my mom. I am currently on christmas break. Christmas was a few days ago and i mainly got clothes. Lots of sweaters from family i hardly know.

"Hello?"

I looked up

"Alana?" i realized that i was zoned out

"Al-"

"Yes yes, sorry mom" she smiled, as she put a plate of eggs in front of me. "Oh thanks" she put on Tv and skating showed up. "Look, it's that young skater girl" i brought my attention to the tv and saw clips of a girl skating.

The announcer started talking

"Kerry Phillips did great once again! She surprised the crowd with her beautiful spins" the camera zoomed in on a girl, so called Kerry.

"Oh thanks i guess"

"So kerry, what do you plan on doing after this season?"

The girl shrugged

"Well i think i'm going to be finished, i think i should focus more on school" i few groans came. I shoveled some eggs in my mouth thinking "quitter"

The announcer continued

"You're done skating. At a young age?"

The girl nodded

"I just think i should focus more on school. Maybe find something different to do" she paused "i think i wanna travel also. My friend told me to go to new york. It looks beautiful in Google maps."

The announcer nodded "understood" mom shut the tv off and flung my arms up "i was watching that!"

Mom continued to do the dishes, looking at the photo of dad. "Oh i miss him:"

My dad passed away when i was roughly 7. I don't have many memories with him, but the ones i have are amazing. He use to take me skating. Figure skating was my favorite thing to do with him, but ever since he passed, mom has changed, and not for the better good. My father and i use to do everything together, to be honest, and sad to admit, i hardly knew my mom. I hardly hung out with her. My mom loved him alot. And so did I.

I nodded "so do i mom" i picked at the last of my eggs. "i'm not hungry"

Ever Since my dad has passed, my mom changed. She use to be so happy, and ready to party, don't get me wrong, she still is, but she is different.

"i made them just for you sweetie"

"i know. I'm sorry" i got up and walked to my room. "oh don't get lost honey!" i growled.

I should also say my mom's sense of humor has gone down hill.

I laid down in my bed and grabbed my phone. I scrolled through instagram. "wow im so famous" i said, as i looked through my zero notifications, zero messages, zero likes, zero....everything. i saw pictures of skaters more and more as i liked them.
