Do you ever have that feeling that you were born different? Well, i could tell you right now- I never stop feeling that. I've been treated and looked at different my whole life that it doesn't affect anymore; I always have this thirst whenever someone would walk past me and not to mention my eyes that seemed to just... scare everyone off. I have never met my dad but, the closest thing i have to one is my mom's boyfriend Bill who helps put the food on the table and make sure i actually have a piece of paper to write on for class. We live far from the city of Chicago, more like the country side of the cold hard city. My mom says that it's better to live somewhere else than the bustling city where everyone seems to be intrigued into how you look, what you wear, and all that other crap. Which was why, she doesn't know that I'm actually in Chicago right now heading to a party that some popular kids are throwing. I wasn't even going to go but my (only) friend, Henry, insisted I "get out there" . Don't blame me, a nerd wants to experience the party life!
"How can you not be deaf?" I groaned covering my ears as we walked towards the brick house where blaring music could be heard from a mile away. "I love this song!" Henry exclaimed as he danced down the street, i could tell from the people peering out of their curtains with hard scowls on their face that Henry wasn't doing anything that stupid. "Yeah, well, I'd love to be sleeping right now" i glared at him as we neared the house. "Come on! This is our first party ever! We should be enjoying the senior life!" he yelled throwing his lanky arms in the air "Henry, you do know were juniors?" i raised an eyebrow at him "so? We practically fooled that bouncer a couple years ago" he defended himself. I rolled my eyes at his antics "he wasn't even a bouncer, the only reason he let us onto the ride was because i looked old enough to be sixteen" i told him. It was true, a couple years ago when me and Henry went to Navy Pier for his twelfth birthday- the guy who worked the coaster said he was too short to ride (Henry was actually the shortest in our class) and i had to tell him i was his elder sister and he believed it.
"Not that different" he shrugged as we walked up to the brick house "and you're sure that we're invited?" I looked at him "totally, Jack the Ass said so" he nodded pretty sure of himself. I gave a look; Jack, or as everyone called him Jack The Ass, was always wasted and didn't ever remembered what happened after he turned sober and the reason everyone calls him Jack the Ass was because he was a total ass to everyone except for his dumb jock friends and his girlfriend, Anne-Maria. "Lydia, it's the last night of spring break" Henry sighed " I know, in that house we're about to make some memories that would last forever" right on a cue a guy fell from a window right onto the trampoline which bounced him onto the red cup covered ground. "Totally" i said sarcastically as the guy bounced back up throwing his toned arms in the air. "That was freaking awesome!" he yelled causing the people crowded up in the second story window to cheer him on.
"Well, you could make your 'memories' on you own" i smacked my lips turning on my heel "nope, I'm making them with you" he pulled my arm spinning me to face him. I glared at him for a moment before finally giving in "fine, but just know- that i am not going to be dragging your wasted ass all the way home" I growled as we walked up to the door.

Not even an hour at this stupid party and Henry was on the tables dancing and singing like a retard with wasted girls grinding up on him, while i was sitting on a sofa where my only company was a puking girl dressed in a short shimmery dress. "You should go rest" i looked at her and she slowly turned her head to face me as if i was crazy "I am comple-" poor girl couldn't even complete her sentence as she pucked back into the nearest object. I scrunched up my nose as the smell seemed to fill up my whole body, from the corner of my eyes I saw a guy sit down next to me. My eyes searched the crowd for Henry but he was no where to be seen damn i thought sighing as i brought the red plastic cup filled with juice from the fridge, to my mouth. "Hey!" i yelled as the guy next to me snatched it out of my hand.
I watched as he sniffed it quickly before shaking his head "how much of this did you drink?" he looked at me his blue eyes showing a slight of concern "none since you snatched out of my hands before i could" i mocked him "wow, not even a thank-you for saving your life" he laughed shaking his head. Was this guy really serious? "I should thank you for taking my drink?" i shook my head at him "listen golden eyes" now were on a nickname bases now? "that juice was spiked to a level where you would've woken up tomorrow and not even remembered what happened the night before" he grimaced. I swallowed slowly before forcing an apology through my teeth "Royal Torres" he held out his hand. He can't just shut up can he? I looked him over; He had a black quiff that went well with his green eyes, putting aside his outfit- which consisted of a black leather jacket, a white v-neck shirt, and faded washed jeans. His body was toned.
"Lydia Calasis" I nodded shaking his hand flicking a piece of my dark waved hair over my shoulder "here alone?" he sighed leaning into the couch "well, i'm here with my friend who somehow ditched me with a bunch of these girls" i nodded. "He must be a real ladies man" he grinned making laugh out loud once "trust me, he's far from it" i shook my head "parties like these" he motioned to the crowd of jocks bringing in a huge barrel of beer. "brings out the best and worst in people" he sighed "so? You alone?" i looked at him "not really" he clicked his tongue "what?" i looked at him "i'm here with a couple guys, we're actually looking for someone" he shrugged but i noticed the mischievous glint that were in those green eyes of his. "Good luck with that, there must be a hundred people in this place" i scoffed "actually, it really isn't that hard" he grinned right as a heavily intoxicated couple fell on the couch tongues still interwined in their mouths.
My expression must've been that obvious that Royal asked if i wanted a breath of fresh air. I mean, Henry was probably off with a bunch of girls doing god knows what! It's time for me to at least have a little fun... right? With a single nod he whisked me out to the empty front yard. A wave of relife washed over me as the cold breeze hit me making stumble back for a sec but i catched myself. "I take it your a senior?" Royal spoke hands dug deep into his his front pockets "a junior" i corrected him "and you?" i eyed him "i don't go to school" he shook his head not caring one bit of what he just said. My mother would have killed me if i came back home telling her that i decided i didn't need school in life, "how'd you get invited?" i asked him crossing my arms over my chest, making the actual small amount of clevage slightly double. "Oh, i live right down the street" he pointed to a small brick building.
"By yourself?" i looked at him "nope, i have two siblings of mine" he smirked "not the only child? Lucky" i muttered kicking grass around with my worn out sneakers. "It's not easy" he chuckled "there's always going to be favorites, me being the youngest, and a certain thing you all want to have" his eyes met mine.
