Chapter 4
I took a deep breath and made my way towards the huge metal gate. I stopped there to insert my new employee card that I received by mail just yesterday. By now it was really dark and it was pretty much after dinner but I read somewhere that Robbie always took his dinner late at night. Ok, I didn’t read it anywhere; Randy told me stuff about Robbie that I didn’t even want to hear. As soon as the gate opened I entered inside and a little later I was stopped by a man dressed as a driver. I stopped my car and rolled the window of my car down and held out my card to him.
“I’m the new nanny here” I said as I handed my card to him.
“From now onwards ma’am, I will be parking your car” he said genuinely smiling at me.
“Oh! Okay, thank you-” I stopped to hear his name.
“Jake!” he replied happily.
“Jake” I repeated smiling and getting out of the car.
I started to walk towards the mansion where I saw a huge clock. I guess Robbie; I mean Mr. Daniel was a really committed person.
“Oh you must be Tracey, the new nanny” an old friendly woman said. I turned up to see this lady. She was beautiful for someone her age. Her hair was short and brown and curly. I’m guessing she had a mushroom cut. She was fairly tanned and her green eyes were shining in the moonlight. She was wearing a black pencil skirt that went a few inches below her knees and a floral blouse.
“Yeah, I’m Tracey” I said reaching out my hand to shake involuntarily.
“We don’t do that here Tracey. But please follow me” she said seriously. Wow this woman was not as friendly as she seemed. Emphasis on the not.
I nodded and started following her quietly. “My name is Charlotte and I’m the head of all employees here. Any problem and you have to report to me. I’ll be keeping track of your work at all times, so I suggest you be I my good books.” She said suddenly stopping. I almost bumped into her but stopped myself while she turned to look at me probably to check if I got what she said. I looked at her for a while until I realized that she was looking for an answer,
“Oh, I understand Ma’am” I replied.
“Call me Charlotte” she said nonchalantly as she turned around and continued “Mr. Daniel is waiting for you in his living room. Here it is, you may go in and make sure to get your schedule from me later.”
I nodded and went in. Wow talk about leaving high school. It was like she was the vice principal who was… terrifying? I didn’t even find Mr. Daniel that terrifying,
I entered the living room to see Mr. Daniel looking straight at the television. He was watching some old movie but my guess was that he wasn’t actually concentrating on what was on.
“Sir?” I asked in a shaky voice
“oh, Tricia right?” hi” he said coming back to reality.
“Its Tracey” I said looking away.
“Oh yeah sorry. Bad memory I guess. You’re here and you’re on time” he said smiling. I wouldn’t lie; I did lose myself into his extremely gorgeous smile.
“Yeah I am” I smiled back. I guess Mr. Daniel was not as scary. Or maybe he was just being nice to me because I was his sister’s friend. After a minute of awkward silence he started,
“Please sit down” he cleared the papers from beside him.
I saw a single sofa beside me and sat on it, muttered a thank you and started looking at my very interesting lap.
