To stand on my flames.

All I can remember, is that I was standing in a house of fire. Who am I? Why am I here? My vision blurred and I tried to yell for help, but it came out as a sigh. I reached out my hand for help. I slowly closed my eyes awating death to come and put me out of my pain. That was when my life took a huge turn; for the better or for the worse.

I woke up in the arms of a stranger. My eyes were a blur and I couldn't breathe. My whole body burned. I looked at the stranger with the little energy I had. Even though I couldn't see, I could tell the stranger was smiling. The stranger put me down on a old damp wood table. Two other people arrive, their faces looked worrie. They held me down with one hand on my arms and one on my leg. I tried to break free from their grasp.

" It's okay, I'll help you. You don't ever have to fear death again." I saw red and lots of it. I felt my whole body burn, but this pain felt strange, it felt good. Like I was being heated by God"s light, like the world was in a flame of color, but why do I feel so scared, so sad. I heard screaming, then realized it was me. I was screaming. The great warmth I was felt turned back into fear and pain. I continued to scream until I saw nothing but darknes.

I must of fainted because the next thing I realized, I was in a small dirty room, laying on a dirty old futon. I sat up feeling better than ever. I looked at my clothes. They were grey, torn, and covered with ashes. I walked to the door and out of the small room. I wandered to what looked to be a kitchen. There were dirty dishes that filled the sink and rotting fruit everywhere. The cabinets looked as though they were patched over and over again with scrap cardboard. I walked across the dirty floor to the door and opened it. Now, I was in a living room. It was the only (some what) clean place in this small house. It had 4 old couch cushions laying in a square with a fire in the middle. I looked around and saw a broken full body mirror on the wall. I caugtht a glance of myself in the mirror, and couldn't believe what saw. I was small, maybe 5 years old, I had short straight silver hair with red ribbons on both sides, I was as pale as paper and had big red eyes and a demon's tail. A demon's tail! A black pointed demon tail. I heard the door open and two people came in. One was a boy with messy blond hair and a blue head band to keep it out of his wild green eyes. His clothes were dirty and ripped. The other was a girl with straight pretty black hair and mysterious sharp purple eyes. She wore an old dirty dress that came to her knees. I flinched and took a few steps back.

"Oh yeah!" yelled the boy. " She's awake." the boy had an excitingly loud Australian accent. He walked over to me. Now that I looked at him closer he looked like he was about 9. He knelt down to look at me. I took more steps back until I hit a wall. He came closer. I slid down against the wall and coverd my ears.

"Gun-shot!!" cried the girl. She walked over and grabbed the boy and pulled him back onto a couch cushion." You should know better than that!" she began to scold. " You must of scared the daylight out of her!" She calmed down then turned to look at me and smiled. She knelt down and stuck her hand out to me. I remained in my little ball then muttered, "G- go away.." I began to shake. I was so scared. What were these people going to do to me? Are they my friends, my enemies? "Please I don't know you." I began to softly cry. The girls kind smile became a dull frown.

"It's ok I'm not going to hurt you." the girl extended her hand out to me agian, but this time I slapped it away. I tighten my little ball and used my knees to completely covered my tearful face. The door opened and shut again. I flinched and began to shake more. What is happeningt? Who is that? Will this person hurt me? I looked up to the sound of the girl and Gun-shot shouting

"Cyruss!!" Cyruss? Who is Cyruss? I looked at the tallest and probably the oldest one of the group. He was a boy about 12 with one red eye and one black eye. His brown hair touched his shoulders and was pulled back in a pony tail. He had a kind smile that eased me for a small bit. He looked over at me and smiled.

" Our new guest is awake." he walked over to me and knelt down and reached out his hand to pat me on the head. I flinched and he stopped.

" Don't bother with it too much Cyruss." said the girl in a mean tone.

" Yea! For once Friday's right" said Gun-shot. So the girls' name is Friday, strange. Cyruss looked at them with a sad face then looked at me and said.

" Hello, my name is Cyruss. I'm the one who brought you here and gave you the eyes and tail." I calmed down and my fear lessened. I looked at him wanting to find out more. " You were in a burning orphanage. You were tied down to the bed frames, and the doors were locked." he paused than started to exclaim more. " When I saw the orphanage on fire, I rushed in to see if there was anyone left inside. You were almost burned to a crisp, at least 80% of your body was melted. I used an old spell to make sure you would never have to experience the fear of death again."

So this man saved me? I lowered my knees and stared at him. "What is your name?" Cyruss asked. My name? My name? My name?my name?my name? What is my name? I thought really hard then finally I heard a voice in my head ' Akuma'.

" Akuma?" I looked at him agian. " My name is Akuma!" I smiled, proud of my lie, then I realized somthing Akuma means flame. ( it really does look it up.) I stared up at them in hopes that they wouldn't think I'm weird. They looked at me then smiled.

" Well it's nice to meet you Akuma." said Cyruss with a smile. He put his hand on mine. I started to shake and I tried to pull my hand away. He hung on to my hand and smiled agian. " It's okay, we will be your family know." I started to calm down a little. " We will protect you." I felt safer now, relieved and I started to cry. I leaped in to Cyruss' arms and cried harder. He put his arms round me and patted me on the back. "My new home, a family, that's a nice thought."
