It's six o'clock on the wall clock.
"Omg, my hair is not dry yet! What dress should I wear?!
Do they have any dress code for entering Gordon's restaurant?!"
Rushing in and out of the wardrobe, changing clothes after dress and vice versa. Finally chose a piece of creamy white sleeveless v-neck dress with a silver swan brooch.
"Okay, move on to my make-up!" Taking out brush pen, eyeliner, foundation, so on and forth. After 10 mins of make up finally she's ready to go out.
Looking at her watch (got it from her mum on her birthday), it's 6.45pm now.
"Oh dear, I need at least 1hr of travel time to reach marina bay sand! I will definitely be late by then! Should I take Uber instead... Arghhh.. so expensive! But at least I can reach there in time.. since it's the first meeting after so many years.. arghhh.. you better be grateful Joe! cause I spend money to take cab all the way to eat dinner with you..😤😤😤"
After taking Uber ride for about 25 minutes, she reach MBS.
"I can get there in time."
At around 7.10pm, she saw a statuesque figure with black blazer standing in front of the restaurant with his back facing her. Walking closer to the gentleman, she called his name.
"Joe!"
Turn around,
"Woah, why did he look so clean and so different from the one I saw in the morning after he shaved his beard."
"You're finally here, Jennis. I've waited you for another 10 minutes, don't you know the virtue: PUNCTUALITY ?"
Erase the beautiful comments on him earlier on. 😑😡
"I am so sorry but I got something else to do before this and you just ask me out so randomly. And it's my birthday, can you stop lecturing?!"
He grabs her and walked in swiftly without her permission.
"Table for two under Joe Kingston"
"Lovely evening Mr Joe, here you're sir, this way."
Looking around, the patrons are mostly Caucasians. Jennis was so amazed by the view. They have the window seat and enjoy dinner with the night view.
"Give me the special set for two person with 1989 Merlot."
"Right away, sir."
Staring at him blindly, blinking her eyes saying:
"Is it you win lottery or you became the president of listed company? How can you bring me to this kind of restaurant? I don't have enough money for tonight's meal!"
"Just shut up and enjoy your meal can? Since we didn't meet for so long time and now I have the chance to meet you on your actual birthday date, I believe that it must be God's will."
Goosebumps on both of Jennis's arms.
"Fine. Thank you in advance for this arrangement."
"Anyway, you look so pretty in this dress and so much better than those times" mumbling while putting the serviette underneath the utensils.
"Oh, someone praising me? Thank you! You look great in this suit as well!"
Smiles cunningly saying: "I bet no one has ever praised you after all these years right, Jennis..."
Flustered,"...what! Nope! You're truly, surely wrong! Someone asked me out tonight but I rejected HIM for you!"
Is that true? Jennis. What are you talking about! You're freely available for the whole day, girl!
"Well, I've got no choice to believe that, I guess."
Silent for two minutes and they look out the window and enjoy the view.
It was so peaceful. Moon hung up highly in the dark night sky with stars surrounding it.
Joe interrupted.
"Jennis, I've something to tell you."
Puzzling. "Anything?"
"... Hmmm actually not! Look! The food is here! Don't embarrass me once again when you saw food!"
