I was leaving the mall from with Angel. Halfway home from dropping her off, my phone rung.
"Hey baby!" I haven't talked to Rico since leaving school.
"Wyd babe?"
"On my way home. I got you something." Rico has been wanting the 1s that came out but they were sold out in his size. With me being the absolute best girlfriend, I decided to get them for him.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" He sounded so childish.
"You'll just have to wait and see huh?" If I don't get off this phone, I don't think I'll be able to hold it in. I'm horrible at keeping surprises and secrets.
"You'll let it slip in 5.. 4.. 3.."
"Let me call you back babe, daddy's calling."
I could hear the attitude in his voice but I couldn't worry about that right now. My daddy's my heart, he comes before any & every male in my life. I'm daddy's little girl for crying out. "Hi daddy!"
Usually I can hear the smile in his voice once he hears me but this time, something was different. He sounded off. "Hey baby girl. Where's my princess?"
"Me and Gelz on the way there dad. What's wrong?"
"Nothing princess. Hurry home. We'll talk when you get here. Watch your surroundings and be careful. I love you princess."
Right then, I knew something was up. I mean, my dad always says those things to me but some bout this time made me suspicious. I'm not oblivious to what my daddy REAL profession is. There's been plenty times where he'd try to shield me from it. Coming home late at night. Bullet holes from him being shot that mom would take care of. The way everything seemed to stop when he'd walk in the room. I knew. "I love you much more daddy. I'm on my way!"
