Amber and I were getting dragged by the collers of our shirts. I could barley breath I was thankful everytime I got a little sip of air. Amber raised her hand then clenched straight on to mine.

"Don't let me die, I can't not today," she trembled.

I took my other hand and tried to loosen my collar."I will never let you die, ever," my bottom lip quivered.

He chucked us into a room with one light, one door, and one window. It was very dim but from that one light you could see around the room. He slammed the heavy meatal door then locked us in from the outside.  He slid open a little window thing on the door.

He yelled. "Hey you two! No messing around the other wise the next step for you is moving to Alaska... That's right I know people."

Amber scurried on her hands and knees to the corner of the room.  She lifted up a rock, under that a piece of rock it, was some chalk.  She seemed like she was very fimiliar with her surroundings.  I'm guessing she has been here before. She drew a large retangle that covered most of the wall and in the top corner she put one tally.

"Have you been here before?" I asked, feeling sorry for her.

"Well, this used to be my bedroom.  The room was pink, there was carpet, a dresser, lamp and it looked very pretty.  But as soon as he figured out that I figured out what he was doing... this happened.  He burnt it all.  But for some reason this stayed." Said Amber.

                              *    *   *    *    *    *

The little light barley peeked through the darkness and the start barley shined through the window. Wait    thats it I thought to myself,  a window one that could lead us to freedom.  One that could arrest these slobs. A window that could give Amber a loving home that she deserves.

The window was up high, and I could barley touch with my fingertips while standing on my tippy toes. It would be too loud and could get us into even more trouble.  And that would deffinately not be good.

"Hey, um Amber, I thnk I have a way that could possibly get us out of here." I said.

"Really? You mean we could accually get out of here?" Her eyes basically bulged out of her head.

"Yeah but it will take time, possibly days.  But if we do it right and nothing unexpected happens, um yes we can get out of here." I smiled.

"Ok, what do we need to do?" she asked.

"Well first of all, the window is the major part of this, and that rock over has a lot to do with that. Anyway each day we are going to crack it more and more each day until it breaks.  That way it won't make a big crashing noise and we can escape through it and we will need him to put up curtains to he won't see the window cracking and we need to find a chair.  So what do you think?" I smiled sheepishly.

"Well, I think its possible, and if it gets us out of here then why not?"

I took the piece of chalk from behind rock and wrote the list of things down behind the onlypicture in her room.  I didn't really know if my plan would really work, but its better than being stuck in here the rest of our lives.

"So what do we do now?" said Amber.

"Well pretend to be sick.  Then I'll ask him for a chair for you to sit on.  Hopefully he is dumb enough to let us have one." I giggled then went over to the little sliding window thing on the door.

"Wait let me crawl up into a ball so I looks like my stomach hurts." She giggled even though the situation wasn't that funny.

I walked opened the sliding window. "Um, can we have a chair she is sick and the cold floor isn't good for her... please?" I forced a smile on to my face.

"WHAT! Ugh it seems like I do everything for you!  But this is the last favor I am ever doing for you!"

I heard his boots clunck against the hard cement. From what I could hear he dropped the chair, took his keys out and unlocked the heavy meatal door.  He didn't even bother to step into the room he just tossed the chair and slammed the door shut.

Amber whispered, "Yes! We have the chair!" Her eyes did something I had never seen before, for once they  were filled with hope.
